Game Discussions SpaceBourne 2

Found this game on the weekend and for me it fills most of the missing content that ED or SC doesnt have in cost of not that pretty graphics (I am a ultra graphics nerd but its okay for me):

  • You can land on different planets with different weather and fauna (Caves, POIs, etc)
  • A vast galaxy to explore
  • In-System Travel via Warp System-to-System via Warp or Stargate (faster)
  • Third person and Cockpit view
  • Ground combat in Mass Effect style or FPS-View when not in a fight
  • Many different variations of Space Stations and interior with busy people
  • Diplomacy (not tried it yet)
  • You can conquer solar systems
  • Crew hire
  • Ship upgrading
  • Character upgrading
  • Leave ship in space for explore debris with gravity boots
  • Single Player only
  • Not such a space flight sim like in ED but not that bad
  • PIP Management
  • X4-Games like Faction System to create a Fleet (Space Force, Ground Troops, Research)
  • Mining
  • Exploration but not tried it yet (scanners for space and planets)
  • early access (mod support planned with release 1.0)
  • 6DoF
  • Only 19 Euros

just wanna give you the info maybe some people would be happy with it :)

Looks extremely impressive - especially as it’s the work of one person!

After a quick look through the FAQ it looks like VR isn’t on the cards at all, but seeing as it’s made with Unreal Engine the upcoming universal VR mod might tick that box for me.

I played again yesterday and I have to say till now (10 hours in the game) there are always new gameplay loops to where you are getting introduced. Yet, I am creating my first base and I try to find members for my organisation, you have to manage tax income and which jobs you give the members like, Space Force, Ground Troops or Research to conquer other systems. And I found out that PIP Management is also a thing in space battles.

The Text-to-Speech NPC discussions are sometimes dull but thats okay for me.

Could a MOD correct my Thread title name to "Space Bourne 2" thanks in advance :sneaky:

How's the flight model? Are all the controls mappable? Does it work with things like HOTUS or a controller? What's the learning curve like?

The flight model is a bit arcady but for me it feels similiar to ED maybe a mixup between ED and SC, combat is not that tactical and feels a bit too easy and if you only play a space game because of the realistic flight model it could be that you will be disapointed (but I had not many fights). First, shot up enemy shields with your lasers or beams and after the shields gone get out your kinetic guns (rockets also on board and you can buy different missiles for shields, hull, etc... also a torpedo pod in stores avialable).

But just try it, under 2 Hours steam give you a refund so enough time to test.

HOTAS Support is in yet but the dev said that it needs more work (no idea what he means), patch support and bugfixing is very fast so it could be done in days. gamepad also works but some complaint about it... I play with M and Keyboard also ED so for me its fine. Headtracking not supported but I will try to get a answer from the dev because I need my ED:Tracker
Controls are all mappale couldnt say that is not, I set all up like ED even the PIP management... thruster throttling is like in SC "press shift toggle and adjusit speed with mousewheel".

Learning curve should be not a problem for a ED Player and plenty of Video Tuts in the game. Even the Bug Reporting Tool is just awesome.

Maybe it´s a filler for me because ED and SC are really really slow on delivering content but in my opinion it has everything I wanted for a space game.

Okay, had a fight yesterday and it was really heavy and tactical... I had to warp out because no chance against the enemy ships. It was a really long fight so I tried out PIP and shield technics and the bonus slots for overloading the systems to get more output. all in all not that simple like it seems in the first hours.

I am liking what I see in this one. I've watched several vids on it and it appears to have a lot of things I like (that ed didn't have or seem to want to have).
Its on my wish list.

by the way, can't a Moderator correct a topic spelling on this forum ? The OP has requested it. But, I'll read this thread either way, cause I like it.
Have a nice day

single player rpg, spreadsheet stats, too arcadey for my taste

Hadn't heard about that, but you just made my day :alien:(y)(y)
Aye, Praydog’s Universal Unreal Engine Injector mod looks like it will do something amazing - drop in a few files into your chosen game and you’ll have stereoscopic vision, 6 DoF movement, and tracked motion controls - and things like UI or HUDs should automatically get sorted out too. I should imagine most games will still need some finessing but this will open up a huge amount of games to VR.

I'm not expecting a stellar forge (though that would be "stellar"), but do planets at least have a day-night cycle? If so, how is this achieved - proper rotating planets or sun moving through the skybox?

Cant say, on a planet surface you can see bright dots in the sky this should be the planets from each system. It looks like Stellar Forge but no infos found yet about star systems or how the galaxy is built. But will test it today.

Yeah, to test it just hang out in a town or something for awhile and note the position of the shadows. One of my pet peeves in X4 is that the sun and shadows never move!
