You won't be saying thank you when Ms. Avory releases the full power of her revamped minions on us. Oh, it's all right for now - she has given us a shiny new docking computer and a slightly more challenging set of NPCs - and we can afford to be affable. However, we should not be deceived. The blow is yet to fall. What too many of you fellows don't seem to realise is that Ms Avory is the enemy, she is plotting our collective downfall and when she talks about teaching her little minions she is not joking. At the end of the day it is going to be a battle of wits between the 700,00of us players and Ms. Avory and what frightens me most is I think she will win.

*Waves* Oh, Hi, Sarah, just talking about your books, not talking about the game at all. No, no, no, why should we and we are definitely not talking about tactics. Nice cat on the cover of book one by the way.

P.S. Best not mention her name in any more thread headers, it will only encourage her to come looking and, frankly the less she knows the better.

On your list, will you have a 'buddy' AI? In combat zones, every ship acts on its own. If an ally next to it is being really chewed up it does nothing and carries on. Do you think you could add a bit of camaraderie in that nearby AI help out a failing ally?

I hope that you and the team can spend time on npc wingman in the near future but i guess that an alien intelligence could be an interesting thing to program, too. ;-)

Yes, thanks Sarah, I'm loving the way the auto dock operates and though I'm not sure I should congratulate you too much, on that Fed Dropship that interdicted "Grain of Sand" (me!) last night .. he's toast (just) and you're forgiven

Alien intelligences sounds like quite the challenge, are you up for that?
As a beekeeper in my other life, there are some interesting swarm simulation softwares around, might be of some interest? Seems the individual bee doesn't have all that much on her mind .. but the emergent behaviours can be fascinating (if painful if they all decide to sting you at once!)

Had an elite AI anaconda interdict me the other day. Boost, boost, frameshift doesn't cut it any more, the bar steward actively pursued me until I could get far enough away for the mass lock effect to lessen!

I think she always has, because mad scientist and stuff....
I am ashamed, played another game for 2weeks ( witcher) and don't know if i completely lost my skills or not but the three eagles coming at me all together yesterday , or was it even sidewinders and eagles, made me really sweat in my Fdl. They kept outturning me like crazy.
And the persistent AI encounters are great stuff, too.
Didn't play so much with fixed weapons since release and am now paying the price for it.
Hard to get them in your sight but i'll work on my skills to counter this madness ;-)

I noticed they got a little better at avoiding the boost-ram of death too. I was also rammed to death by an Anaconda so that was new and exciting, and by exciting I mean horrifying. I was just finishing up a nice little FA turn in an Eagle touting my ability to take down an Anaconda and there he was, bearing down on me like a Sumo at a buffet. There just wasn't enough boost that day to avoid the belly flop of doom.
