Save humans from Titans -Is there a ship build that we think will rescue escape pods and survive?

With Update 17 coming and I guess a CG to get the new laser to allow us to rescue escape pods, I was wondering if any AX pilots could suggest a ship and build that we could get ready.
I imagine Frontier will make it possible to have a large cargo ship to get those thousands of humans back from the Thargoids.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

To fight off the Glaives and Scythes you'll need to be sheildles, which means plenty of armor and little room for cargo unless thing change. Or play in a wing.

I just got a beefy cutter. Still have to find the correct weapon mix to kill the occasional Glaive

I guess a Clipper will do nicely too

You'll need a mining ship, apparently. With sub-surface missiles. I ain't gonna bother, myself.
A bog-standard mining ship isn’t going to get very far at a Titan… you also won’t need to bother with a refinery or anything.

Point about the subsurface missile - once the modified version makes its appearance - stands, but beyond that, sending a ship into the Maelstrom/Titan requires a fairly specialized setup in order to give it a better than zero chance of making it back out.

I’m currently planning to just use my Krait, which was modified from an AX setup… how many pods you’ll be able to recover per run will strictly depend on whether they are corrosive or not(so, if it is the case, that rules out any conventionally available cargo rack past size 4, if the case… unless you’re one of the lucky few to have a S5/6 corrosion resistant rack). Glaives might be a bigger issue than Scythes, which it can outrun if need be.

Also favoring the idea of doing quick dips in and out to reduce the chances of mishaps occurring. Namely, getting blasted to shreds by the local, and by now very upset, local Thargoids. Also the Titan since it will probably take offense, I guess.

Speaking of mining tools, has anyone tried mining in the fields around Titans, or at least firing a prospector drone at them?

Yes, when Titans released, I set up a mining ship to mine the ice asteroids in the maelstrom, but it was nothing special.
I didn't bring a pulse wave scanner, or core mining equipment, however, so didn't check if that's possible.

I was making a thinly veiled comment about FDEV repurposing yet another feature rather than add something new.
If so, what's the problem.. IMO, an old and relatively weak argument. If the resulting game play is challenging, interesting, and looks good, then IMO this is more than ok. Depending on how it's implemented it could be really cool placing charges, detonate a part of the titan, collect pods, and make an escape while being harassed by various Thargoid ships. God forbid if it would mean that commanders would have to team up and that it would be close to impossible to do in solo... :D

With missiles used to extract the prisoners one might actually need a refinery of some sort to, uh, separate human bits from thargoid innards.

Or maybe a simple sieve will do.
I’m still debating whether the Thargoid pods are made of the same stuff as their ships, or more fragile. That will be a primary determining factor in this matter… at least, in whether the human part of what you’re trying to pull out will be in one piece, or several.

Assuming that it even still is human, of course… I’m not quite convinced.

The alternative is a new Prisoner Retrieval Limpet Controller, which can only be used for this and no other purpose, and for me that seems worse.

Adding extra functions onto existing modules I think is a good thing - less important here where you'd be building a dedicated ship for it anyway, but in general means you're more likely to be able to engage with a situation than think "well, I could go back to dock to get the module for that, but by the time I do the opportunity will be gone anyway".

Yes indeed. I did not mean add a new module. The last thing we need is more modules.

I meant something new other than incremental Thargoid related stuff, which is all we get now.

This stuff is trickling in bit by bit, but it’s boring to me. That’s all.

Yes:

But I only got regular mats related to a "rocky" ring.

If its doable in Solo mode, but much more efficient in Wing then I will be happy with that. I will pop in and give it a go regardless (95% Solo player here).
The whole Solo/Group debate is very much a dead horse by now and not just in Elite...kinda like Hardcore/Casual. It always descends into pointless name calling and flame wars.
I largely agree with you though, if its a "stealth ingress, grab 16 or 32 biopods (or whatever they are called) and then run like hell whilst dodging enemy fire gameplay loop", then that could be quite fun and engaging!

I get the impression that if you buy it dinner, and talk nicely to it, mainly in a soft romantic voice, you may actually get invited back a couple of times. 😏

I'll be using the same Clipper I've been using for all Maelstrom activities since they arrived.

But after the Titan sampling CG, I almost take offense to the "and survive" part of this topic, After 2 days of the sampling CG I got bored with the Clipper and used a Challenger, Mamba, AspX, and even Cobra MkIII for titan sampling. Literally anything, even an Eagle MkII can get into a titan.

Considering how many times I've been hit in the face by an L6 rocket launcher, died and redeployed in the conflict zone a minute later, 34th century medicine won't have much problem with that

Right. A sieve might not help much in this case. We need a really, really good anti-xeno refinery to purify the humies and purge the vile xeno in them. Hope Aegis is up to the task (and will pay good money for the necessary materials during the mandatory community goal😉).
