Save Ship Loadouts - collection of request threads

The possibility to save different ship loadouts, firegroups and module power priorities (and to equip them quickly if they're stored at your current location) would be a great feature that has been raised many times. A few threads all about the loadout request (there are probably quite a few more I haven't found):

It would be great if you would listen to your customers and implement this feature.

Just a few arguments:
  • our time is valuable. Especially for players with a full time job and family. Sitting in a dock and changing your loadout and firegroups for the 20th time from one role to another isn't fun.
  • more playtime with your friends. Quite a few times a friend came spontaneously online and we wanted to go bounty hunting in a res site. Instead of a simple button press at my home station where all my modules are stored, I need to fiddle around with outfitting to change the equipment of my Conda. Valuable coop playtime lost every time.
  • "Purchase another Ship" isn't a good argument. Again our time is valuable. Not every player has so much spare money and time to buy and equip several ships, especially if you have engineered modules you don't want to do that twice or even more often. Even without the money and grind argument: when the game provides a feature like re-equipping a ship it shouldn't be a time sink using it, as it's just repetitive, slow and boring gameplay to equip your ship in a specific way over and over again. Some QoL additions are needed, like the many linked threads above clearly show.
Thanks for listening.

I have a perfect example on how this would be invaluable to us:

I work hard, get good and finally save up for a Python.

*Work harder, get it all decked out for combat! (Because, you know...PEW PEW!)

*But then I hear about great passenger missions really cranking out some serious credits! Well, I have to save up and get the passenger cabins, maybe change the core internals a bit to make it work a little smoother...but viola! Passenger Python! Woohoo!

*Oh wait, cargo hauling is becoming a thing, but it's better to have a Medium or Small ship? Ummm...PYTHON TO THE RESCUE! Oh drat, now I have to stuff it full of cargo racks and...*sigh* drop some of the cores down to enhance the jump range for the missions...ah, perfect...

*Whoa whoa whoa, hold the phone! I can engineer-tweak my Python into a 42ly fully decked out DEEP SPACE X ship? YES!!! Into the black baby! Oh wait...more mods...shoot...okay, okay, I think I have it all.

*Oh MAN!!! Stealth Python for smuggling and wanted passengers!!!?!?!?!?! WOW!!! All I have to do is engineer the power plant differently and make a few other mods? Well....okay.

Wait, my buddy wants to go do some bounty missions? I currently have...ummm...37 modules to look through...

"y'know...I'm *really* busy tonight bruh...maybe tomorrow?"

Ooooorrrrrrrr

"Okay, let me flip this ship back into a combat beast..." *Clickie* "Alright, where'd you want to meet up?"

Now multiply that by even a couple more ships and...yeah, DISASTER!

"Wait, did this drive go with the DBX...or was this for the Python? No wait, I think it was for the AspX...Shoot....and what the heck is this rank 1 multi-cannon doing in here? Well, it's engineered so I guess I had it for...I dunno, something...right?"

Raise your hand of that's happened to you...

*Raises hand*

It's just starting to get there for me. I think it's worth some dev time as a quality of life feature. I imagine it would be difficult to implement without introducing a whole pile of bugs in said system, though.

This would be a great feature and it has been raised probably dozens of times (and can't be raised often enough). A few threads all about the loadout request (there are probably many more, this is just the result of a quick Google research):

It's would be a cool addition

Added three more threads I found on this topic (last one started end of May). Any chance this feature will come one day? It would really make sense and the demand is apparent...

If anyone else finds more requests regarding the loadout feature, feel free to share them here.

Definately be useful!

If you could save a Loadout Config of a ship's loadout, and then while in Outfitting, any Loadout Config for your ship could be selected and then all the modules applied. If any modules in the Loadout Config are remote, this is reported as a problem (& nothing happens), and you have the shortcut option to go to the transfer option for the module...

On a side note/request - I proposed ages ago the ability to be able to store notes at all key levels (ships, modules, friends, locations) such that the first 20-30 characters would be shown on lists (space permitting). This at least would allow CMDRs to manually keep track of modules more easily. eg: In a weapon's description put "[Piracy][G3] Python under the nose" to remind you that you've only leveled it up to a G3 at the moment, and typically you use it for your Python's piracy setup :) And of course, if this text was stored locally on your machine, third party tools could utilise it - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-Type-Text-on-ships-modules-friends?p=5155631

Great collation!

(A recent thread mentioned weapon / module naming too as a bonus extra. Could be good for quick identification)

Having a 'gather my piracy kit' option might be good too. IE if not all of the allotted gear for the template is available have a one-click option to get the disparate parts sent over. (And maybe a second option to buy all locally available missing items?)

It feels similar to Hud Customization. As in seems so obvious that it hurts yet not in the game. In this case we can't even hack an ini to reach at least some limited results...

Added save ship loadout request thread number 17.

With 3.3. and all the new mining modules, this request is imho necessary as never before. Apart from the module swapping, resetting all the firegroups and module priorities every time is also quite time consuming.

Ok, I can go for the Fire group. That because you have to go to another ship that has that current fire group.

Now load outs. We will have to deal with Shipping the Modules to your ship. Now if your loadout in Colonia. Are you willing to wait? I looking at I don't want someone takes an exploration ship in location A and get an instant combat build when they get to Location B.

I think the best idea for players is to have the different type of ships that can be shipped to you.

Perhaps I should make that clearer in the OP: it's not about "beaming" modules from location A to B. It's about equipping your ship in a faster way from modules stored (or available at the market) at the location you are (e.g. your home base, where many Cmdrs have stored their modules and ships). If they're not there, then you can't equip your full loadout that you saved (or the modules have to be shipped with the current system to your location).

I think most, if not all of the threads I've linked to, share the same view.

edit: actually that point was specified already in the second argument in the OP. To make it clearer, I added it in the first sentence as well. Thanks for pointing out that this wasn't clear (I thought it was).
