Ah yes, I remember the moment a month or so ago that I realized that 'Sierra Hotel Alpha' meant ME. Sure, I'd heard it over and over again for the few weeks I'd been playing, and I realized that they were spelling out 'SHA', but for some reason I always thought it was the station announcing itself. So I pondered why all the stations were (something) SHA. It wasn't until I'd gone through the Sidewinder and Hauler and had headlooked around my new Cobra, spotted the DeLacy plaque, and then shortly after approached a station, and clearly heard '
DeLacy Sierra Hotel Alpha' that it clicked, and the lightbulb went off in my head. They were talking to me. They were SAYING MY NAME.
It completely floored me. In all the decades I've been playing, a game had never called me by name before. I had to share this, so I excitedly tell my husband how amazing it was that the game does that. My husband, who's been playing (and trying to get me to play) this game since beta, who's been hearing the game say HIS name for just as long as flight control's been using it, had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. He had simply never registered it. That was a better 'first discovery' than any planet that now bears my name in-game.
