Scavenging Dead Titans for Drives and Loot

But didn’t you say a little while ago that it’s all random? If it’s random then you getting two at a time will have zero bearing on how many spawn in any other instance regardless of sensor range.

I’ve got no idea how @SteveWW57 searches for them, but I personally move around and if it’s spawned I’m probably going to “bump into it” as you put it.
Well, from my experience, we can say that the spawning time and location is RNG according to some unknown parameters. One of the parameters maybe whether one or two spawn together. I must have found two at the same time maybe 6 times in about 12 visits. That seems to be more than a coincidence. Again, the point is that if you have long-range sensors, you'll have more chance of seeing them in your contacts panel instead of having to bump into them. It seems pretty simple to me that this must be surely the reason why some people struggle to find them and others don't.

I did enjoy it, but having spent the equivalent of an entire working day circling the same spot, it’s lost its shine.

It’s the exact same thing as the Guardian sites. They’re atmospheric, and even exciting, when you first go. But you end up spending too much time in them trying to get all the mats for the things you need, so they lose their shine.

I do go away and do other stuff when I get bored of circling but the need to return several times just to get my first saps the enjoyment out of the task.
If it took you that long to find that component, I really have no clue what I am doing differently. I've been out there often enough that it can't be just luck. I have no trouble finding the parts. The Propulsion things are no problem at all, and there's always a Titan Drive Component around somewhere.

About the Guardian sites... I've been there so often and long without really needing anything and just because I liked the ruins, that now that I actually needed something, including Guardian weapons I just took everything from my pile and was able to buy straight away. Still have like 5 weapon blueprints left.
I never went out there for farming.

@Kira Goto didn't you say earlier it's possible Cocijo's graveyard will be infested by Glaives & Scythes after this Thursday's tick?
Glaives... I've never seen a Glaive at any Titan site. There's Scythes, but they ignore you as long as you don't carry any human cargo as far as I know. Well, and some stray Cyclopses-es-es.

Well, Cocijo's remains now appear to have the usual complement of scavengers, pirates, AX NPCs and rescue vessels, but I've yet to see a single Thargoid appear there.

... funky wreck noises also persist so now we have two places of remnants from ancient species which make funny sounds (the Titan wrecks and the "obelisks" at Guardian sites, if, admittedly, the former is a lot more recent and the owners of it are still alive).

I can understand there still being the odd Thargoid wandering around the other wreck sites. However, I'm pretty sure the Galnet article did specifically state that no Thargoid craft remained in the Sol system. That and my supposition that the Feds would probably look down their nose at random Thargoid day trippers moseying around in Earth orbit and send an official contingency of AX craft there pronto to clear them out.

Maybe. Possible...

It’s more something I mentioned because I saw some people be 100% convinced that the Thargoids would show up when the caustic dissipated (even though nothing would, or at least that would not, have stopped them), but my experience suggests the contrary.

I can’t say the “peace” in Sol feels like a particularly steady one even with the Titan gone and Powerplay woes more settled, though.

Oh, I was just throwing it out there as a 'maybe-possible' reason for the current absence of Thargoids. Maybe that's just to instil a false sense of security though. Or maybe not.

I must admit that I was fully expecting the whole Cocijo 'event' to be far less cut and dried than it actually was. Which, of course, does raise suspicions. But...

Argh, so annoying. Got my first one OK. Went back to work on a second one and found a Titan Drive Component right away. But I didn't have enough of the Propulsion Elements. 😏
I grabbed a couple more right away, but the TDC despawned. Then I spent another hour wandering around collecting random stuff w/o finding one. At least now I have about 50 PE.
For some reason there are random pirates wandering around who lust after my meta-alloys.

If I collect up enough parts for 3 engines, can I just go out there in my Anaconda and get a size 4, 5 & 6 FSD, or do I need to make three trips.
I.e., buy a size 4, store it, buy a size 5, etc.
Then go back to my regular port and transfer them there?

Also, if you put a Thargoid FSD and a Guardian drive booster in the same ship, are they going to consume each other in mutual annihilation and create a micro black hole? Or are they cool with each other?
Adding to what others have said, there is a bug with any pre-engineered module like this. If you try to unlock multiple modules at once, it can crash the game on the second purchase, and you lose the materials but don't get the module. You should exit the technology broker between unlocks and view the module in the outfitting screen. Here is a more complete discussion of the issue:
Reddit Thread. The linked thread is about the new drives. I've had it happen with other modules in the past.

Maybe it was stupid luck, but I got the Titan Drive Component and 9 Propulsions Elements within 10 minutes at the Titan HADAD location. No Thargoids, just a few human NPC.
Later I went back to get some other materials. Again, the Titan Drive Component spawned within 15 minutes, together with multiple Propulsion Elements. A few Thargoids appeared, but they were kept busy by the npc AX pilots, far away from my position.

That's also my experience most of the times I go to the debris fields. It's just among the stuff I collect at some point.

Since those elusive pre-engineered wonder FSDs are now out there for purchase for materials, I thought there might be a lot of people who missed their shot on the Community Goal for whatever reason, and are now wondering how to get the Thargoid parts they need for the drives.
First things first: they are really worth it... Especially if you don't have access to engineering yet. This is a fully Grade 5 engineered FSD with Supercruise Overdrive capabilities, double engineered which is not possible if you do it on your own. Range is higher than any drive you can engineer yourself.
So when you engineer it, after buying it, it's triple-engineered?

you cant engineer them (or if you do they lose their special double engineered status)
You can put mass manager experimental on them...
Definitely don't lose status as they still jump further than a "normal" SCO fully-engineered drive! I've got ones to compare. More ly range on the new type.
And they definitely have a longer range after engineering than before.
