Deadly, But very fluffy...
TC's WOTW was garbage IMHO. It had nothing on the original series, or the audio book (original maybe with the NASA final chapter addon) and serpently nothing like the stage show.

Guess we have to disagree then, each to their own :)

Ive seen the stage show of WOTW twice, one with Richard Burton hologram then the Liam Neeson one, both were great! and yeah i think ive bought the audio one twice, as i think my son nicked the first one!

I liked the new Judge Dredd to, really gritty, but others not so keen so...

Haven't seen the new Dredd yet, although I believe I've seen an offsite-backup-incase-of-fire lying around somewhere which I might borrow and return to the owner :p But by the time I get chance to watch the film, It'll probably be available to buy for £2, and that's after years of inflation added to it.

best viewed in 3D and the slowmo drug scenes are trippy.

Saw it and wasnt actually very impressed :(
I thought the old stallone version was more entertaining

I think the stallone version has dated, not visually but the buddy story was poor, I like the new judge dredd

The stallone version was more like the comic to me far more colourful and had some good humour...Loads of locations.

The new Dredd film disappointed me because.....Without giving anything away what started as promising turned out to be a bit of a die hard type thing...I expected more :(

hmmmf im split.. I thought the first film was namby pamby it was just not o the money.. the 2nd one had the atmosphere right but not enough of locations and situations..

I liked both films and still long for Dredd Begins.

The first one was better?!!!! Agent Illu puts Synchromesh on his long list of to do assassinations! :p

Fair view mate, i like 2010 better then 2001!

Second Dredd better with gritty story(and yes mobius, i liked the trippy scenes in just BRay so must be well out there in 3D!) and agree, would have liked more city scape.......was hoping it would lead to third film, but not looking likely at moment(although there is a petition by sci-fi fans to make it happen(ones that like it anyway!) ;)

Anyone seen Cloud Atlas yet? i quite fancy that one but getting mix reviews......on a non sci-fi note i just got Sightseers(Brit film about caravanning enthusiasts turn killers!) good reviews but ive not seen it yet.

Both Dredd films have plus points and minus points. I like to view them as a different artist doing the visuals and a different writer doing the story. There have been plenty of 2000AD Dredd stories where I hated the story or hated the art.

That said, I hated it that in the first one Stalone insisted on having the helmet off. The visuals and the story wasn't bad apart from the buddy story bit. If they could have ended it with Dredd arresting Rob Schneider's character and sending him back to an iso cube it would have been a classic Dredd story.

I enjoyed the second one more because it had the grimy block story that 2000AD always hinted at but never really showed. Karl Urban was a much better Dredd (plus he was also a fan and only took the role if he could keep the helmet on) and the general story was very much a 2000AD story. There are bits I didn't like of the story but in general it was a decent movie.

what makes Dredd 2010 better that the 2001 version is the 18 certificate.

I did like the city in the 2001 with its flying taxi's and neon light's but the 2010 version had a feel of a megacity that was surviving a post nuclear war.

Most people I know agree with Nicodemus. The unfairness of Rob Schneider's arrest is perfect Judge Dredd black humour. The movie fell to pot when Stallone removed his helmet.

The only thing I didn't like about the second movie is the last few minutes of the film and that decision
he made on Cassandra. She lost her weapon and so she failed the test. He might've recommended that she resit the test, but rules are rules

The locations really was the problem for me.....once you got through the build up ( which was good ) .....for the next hour it seemed to be twelve actors in the nakatomi building like die hard....

It was a good'ish film and dredds charactor wasnt so corny as stallone's Dredd so that was an improvement

I just got a bit bored as i thought....thats it...just stairs and corridors till the end...I wasnt far off

I wanted it to be amazing :(

Actually, the decision would be a fail if she lost her primary weapon. Dredd noted that her firearm was, as the movie went along, no longer her primary weapon. So, although she lost her gun, her primary weapon remained intact and fully functioning...

That does sound quite plausible. I haven't seen the movie since its release on cinema. I'll rewatch it some time bearing that in mind.

But I still can't help feeling it was a mistake to do this. Movies are about story arc and character development. A protagonist should learn something during a movie that makes them a better person. That's why it would've been better for Dredd to have made the unfair call. It would have been a nice little joke about movie clichés and it would have shown how unbending and machine-like his thinking is.

Dredd is as cold as the baddie he's dealing with. His plan wasn't to make her suffer as she fell to the ground. He was just maximising the number of lives he could save
