Scientific reasons why shock cannons should have increased total ammo

I just wish I didn't have to pull the trigger for every shot. My poor hotas and hands just can't do it fast enough to get their full potential. Would love to have a multicanon like version or something in between like a burst or similar. I personally hate button mashing in any game, this is button mashing at its worst.
Considering the heat buildup and the increasing jitter as you burst fire them, I quite like that they're the way they are.

I run shock cannons alongside some beams on most of my civilian ships now. That combination does short work of any NPC interdicing me, which is good, since my civilian ships lack the shielding and armor for prolonged engagements. They have enough ammo to last through the usual 4 mission generated opponents without problem, which is all I need from them.
 
I use those in my Mamba large HPs.
I don't PVP, but for PVE if you have a decent trigger discipline you can make roughly the same amount of money in a HAZres than with MCs or Cannons without synthetizing. Specially if you target PPs.
Trigger discipline can be applied to mc and frags too, and in much bigger extent cannons, witch modded other way than long range miss most shoots as gimbals against smaller targets, in those cases you make 4x the money with multi-cannons and 2x using frags and cannons.

This and lower shoot speed are reasons why weapon is not competitive with multi's and cannons. DPS is only theoretical. For some reason FD like the fact that end-game PvP and PvE weapons are rails and plasma accelerators and rest being just secondary, unless you want to grind synthesis ammo.

I disagree with your numbers. But, each its own.
