Scooping all raws without targeting them, please

The difference on a planet is that we cannot use collector limpets in a SRV. But when I blow up whatever on say a light gravity planet I can target them before they hit the ground then go collect the ones that I need. For me it is all about binding the right SRV controls for the most efficient use. Mine are so fast that I don't even think about them anymore. I even keep the cargo scoop open while racing across a planet flat or mountainous. It doesn't seem to make any pips difference. Maybe I'm missing your point.
You know the way the Ores and such fly in one direction after mining them in space. It would have been easy to move your ship in one location as the ores are collected. But at the time you had to target each Ore before scooping them.

I think we already have that - at least for regular targets. Ensuring it works for material gathering would be good though.
It doesn't work for materials which is odd since I can target them and do all the time during battle (by accident).

I can't imagine scooping stuff in the SRV without the help of head tracking at this point.
Before I had VR I did scoop stuff in an SRV without using either head look or head tracking. Even with VR, I still rarely use head look/tracking for targeting.

LH MFD is your friend in that regard.

Why not just do the following;

If you already have a full load of a mineral (or you have set the filter to ignore some minerals) as you drive/fly over a group of chunks only those your systems can 'see/store' are collected automatically. For example;

You are one short of a full capacity of iron,
You are full of cadmium,
You have set the filter to ignore vanadium,
Other minerals are (at most) at 50% capacity, so there is plenty of space for them.
There are numerous chunks of iron, cadmium, vanadium, tin, antimony and so on. You drive/fly over them with the scoop deployed. The cargo scoop picks up ONE chunk of iron (and ignores any subsequent ones), ignores the cadmium and vanadium, and grabs everything else it can 'see/store'.

I feel that the default setting for a cargo scoop should be "If I can detect and store a material/mineral, scoop it up, otherwise ignore it.". However, CARGO is NOT treated this way; to scoop it each cargo pod MUST be targeted.
