landing on that planet that close to betelgeuse is possible. i did it a few weeks back, you will stay in scooping range all the time till you are in orbital cruise.

Also what i Just Noticed, The Large beam laser has 2 "medium" beam laser barrels, in 2.1 they now alternate between each other during the firing sequence:
