Is there a program that you can recommend that will do a bulk conversion of images from bmp to tiff or png? I have a large collection of bmps which consume a lot of space on my drive.

Personally I just use XnShell because of its simple integration with Windows Explorer (just multi-select your images, right-click and pick the XnShell conversion you want to perform). I use it almost daily to convert screenshot bmp files to png prior to uploading to imgur.
