Scrub Question

I have worked my way up to the giddy heights of buying a Cobra Mark III :)
After the upgrade from the Adder I have found that Supercruise Assist is not working as it used to :(
I have the module, it is turned on but the icon on the navigation panel (for a station) is just square brackets [] without the star in between [*].
It says "lock and supercruise" or something like that instead of (from what I remember) "Supercruise assist". When used it works OK until the destination is reached and it just keeps on going :(
Hyperspace dropout is on
It does not lock the flight controls either (as it used to) so I have to keep adjusting the flight to the destination
I presume that I have done something wrong or hit a key (I'm using keyboard and mouse) but, I am at a loss to know what
Can anyone help a poor noob please?

It should work exactly the same in all ships. If you knew how to use it in Adder you know how to use it in Cobra iii, excellent choice btw its an awesome ship, but just to refresh.

In SC click on Nav Panel, click on target and then 'engage SCA' next to 'lock target'. If engaged properly it should do everything you say it does, hold the target and drop out automatically. It cant be engaged improperly, its either on or off. Sometimes if target is orbiting super fast it will lose track of it, in that case get a better vector on the target helps or manual micro adjustments can do it and leave SCA on / targeted.

If its not adjusting to keep on target at all and its not dropping out, its not actually on I dont think.

I dont get the *Station bit, can you upload a pic?

Check Right Hand Panel, Modules and make sure enough power for SCA, I cant see any reason at all why not but lets cross it off, make sure its turned on.

Otherwise sounds like a bug. The type that a relog usually fixes.

Hi Lorenzo,
The process used to be
1) Jump to new system
2) avoid the star :)
3) Look at left hand panel - navigation
4) select the station
5) at the bottom was the icon for Supercruise assist [*]
6) select that - align with the target on screen
7) sit back and wait for the "disengage" message

At least that it is what I seem to remember

Sorry, by station I mean any "Target" - After purchase I outfitted with mining lasers and tried to go to a local asteroid belt. That's when I noticed it :(

Sure, but when you’ve arrived in the system, you’re already in SC (supercruise). When you go to land at a station for example, you come out of SC. So if you come out of a station, you’re not in SC yet. Select a planet or station in that same system, the countdown happens, then you’re in SC, now you can use SCA.

If its saying 'lock and supercruise' then you are NOT in supercruise.
Jump to supercruise then select your target for the Supercruise Assist.

Yeah you have to be in SuperCruise already for SCA to work. If youre targetig nothing or something in system to go to SC, if youre targeting another system you jump instead.

I haven't dared jumping to another system just in case it doesn't stop me :(

Hyperspace Dethrottle - On. It works 99% of the time, occasionally it will go on strike until you relog and sometimes until you hard reset and sometimes for longer. Just making sure you are actually awake I think and keeps you on your toes. If it doesnt work then its exactly the same process as if you dont have it anyway. If you set a keybind to '0% Throttle' you can use that during the jump loading screen itself and it will activate as soon as you enter the system so de-throttle to 0 if youre worried. Weve all got burned, its par for the course :)
