Because they're not a PMF. That means that collectively, the 20,000 or 50,000 of them all are in a PG that has one standard (afaik) which is no PVP - the group is exclusively PVE and that's it.

After that, you are free to do what you want.

That means you can make a group if u want to go play the BGS.

What other groups have they made?

Bullsh**

Read the thread on Mobius:
Greetings CMDRs. I am new here, and a little confused. Can I do all the above mentioned in the Mobius PVE group, or do I have to join the Mobius Factions group?
You can do any of the actions in any of the groups, on any of the platforms. (you could also do them in solo or open, but where's the fun in that?)
You can also join FACTIONS if you wish, you may have a better chance at meeting international Mobius Community players also in FACTIONS.
So reading that, Mobius is OoM as you can undertake activity in any Mobius Group and not just the official OoM private group. If not the case, then common sense would separate it.

Maybe a fairer way would be to say that SDC took on and forced Mobius to distance itself from it's previously official representative PMF.

I have no idea what you are trying to say, it doesn't make any sense.

Almost all non PvP centric PMFs are represented in Mobius since it's the unofficial fourth game mode. Saying that Mobius is OuM is like saying that Open is SDC. It's nonsense. If you go on their website there is a clear disclaimer that they are in no way connected to the PG. it has been posted here several times.

Sssshhhh... nobody here wants to hear facts. Better post smileys, memes or cat videos :p

Why does their website have an entire forum section dedicated to the Order of Mobius and BGS work? I mean, Marra linked it in the very text you quoted. [haha]

Why do I picture a sad little group of grown men with so very little of any interest in their real lives, they actually truly think this stuff is of importance and interest to the rest of the community?

Dudes! Go out and doing something! Learn to play an instrument! Something... Anything...
Why!?!? This is the most interesting thread in months on the forum. Can't miss out on it. It's going down in history as one of the most intense Forum PvP battles. :D

In lack of Elite content, this is emergent meta gaming created by posters. We have snipers, do-gooders, trolls, griefers, gankers, all of it here. No need to play Elite. xD

I didn't say that players don't do BGS or PMFs in Mobius, what I said that it's not what is the reason behind Mobius to begin with.

It's true that OoM is a faction that exists within Mobius, but there are hundreds of PMFs in this forum too, that doesn't that you can single out a one of them and claim that Frontier forums were made solely for that single PMF. OoM is apparently just a PMF some member of Mobius decided to make. No one in Mobius is required or ever asked to join that faction. I never was. No one ever told me I had to sign up to that faction. I haven't even heard about that faction until yesterday because that's not what Mobius PG is about.

I'm another one of those that's never been to the forums but I do belong to the Mobius Facebook group (two of them actually). Yes there are people in Mobius that post daily "orders" for the OoM PMF and also the MCRN for Colonia folks, but nobody ever forces anybody to do anything with them. It's strictly optional and the number of regular participants was, as near as I could always guess, quite small. This whole kerfuffle has probably brought more attention inside Mobius to the OoM PMF than anything else has (which could end up being somewhat ironic, but we'll see).

I daresay that at any given time, there are several orders of magnitude more Mobians off exploring random corners of the middle of nowhere or running CG missions than are actively running BGS missions for either OoM or MCRN. Again, I'm not an officer or anything, that's just my guess.

I will give SDC credit for playing the BGS in a thoroughly PvE manner (or, as I saw once in relation to EVE, "PvP by other means") and doing it well. I'm just not sure exactly what point it proves. Because even if there had been a movement of Mobians to Open to try and counteract or stop the SDC, with the way instancing works, what are the odds that they actually could have even tried by any method other than grinding harder...which could be done just as easily in the PG anyway?

From the OOM section of the forum (thanks for linking me)

A message from the Mobius Admin, and affiliated subgroups of the faction content players known as The Order Of Mobius.

Thank you for doing us a favour by putting more emphasis on the unbalanced BGS methods and demonstrating the slightly broken nature of it.

It may now get a look over and a fix, who knows?

We welcome you to the PvE gamestyle where all the cool kids are, we understand that the endless grind of PvP griefing and not having combat opponents worthy of your mettle must make the game boring for you, and the resultant decision to play the way the game was originally designed in the eighties may have been a leap of faith.

So, Thanks SDC.. Good job, we're sure BGS will certainly get some rebalance soon..

Also thank you for the free advertising for us, and for kindly lending us your media ties and air time.

In the meanwhile, whilst the Mobius private group is indeed 20000-45000 registered players strong, the actual Factions content/BGS players for the OoM actually number in the dozens as it is a small part of the game in it's entirety.

Some people like PowerPlay, some like trading, some like in-game BGS, but for some reason, your recent endeavors have actually sparked more interest in our OoM memberships, so again, thank you for doing advertising for us.

In the meanwhile, until the OoM home systems settle back down as the BGS will allow, we've got some margaritas and beach wear to use. You are welcome to join in

From the OoM creation thread posted on 3rd October 2015:
Disclaimer
The Order of Mobius is completely separate from the elitepve group and does not represent the ideals or game rules of the mobius pve group, it is a completely separate independent organisation, when playing in the Mobius pve group our rules still apply regarding pvp. So don’t think that because that our player faction is independent of our group that when playing in our group the rules of engagement do not apply.
