SDC Presents: Operation Overlawd

Meanwhile, far from the penumbra of someone's massively inflated ego, countless pilots absolutely fail to give a sh.. shhh... you know what it is.

Aside from the fact that Open performs like absolute rubbish and Elite's P2P with some server interactivity networking model leaves a lot to be desired, it's egos and attitudes like this that I simply want nothing to do with, in or out of game.

The laundry list of things I would like to say in response would offend drunken sailors and make the devil cover his ears. The magnitude of contempt I feel towards people I will never meet and hope to never encounter knows no bounds when presented with rubbish like this. The remainder of this is not directed at anyone in particular, but rather addresses the attitudes portrayed.

Grow the frell up, leave people to play the way they want to play and go stroke your ego somewhere else. You contribute nothing to make the game better for anyone but yourselves, and this sort of behavior should result in account bans as harassment.

Just because you choose to sht in the sandbox doesn't mean anyone else should have to or want to play in that part of the sandbox. And that whole "but it's called Elite: Dangerous" rhetoric can be shoved directly up your exhaust port, because that's all it is - rhetorical semantics obsessing over a title.

Plenty of players have no interest in "team play", and comparing this to Counterstrike... not even close. Counterstrike was designed as a PvP game, and an FPS at that. It looks more like the only thing proven here is that there are at least 20,000 players who have no interest in this style of game play. Forcing that on people - you should simply be ashamed of yourselves, not boasting about it. I'd be more interested in watching the videos of you throwing weighted bags of newborn puppies into a raging river. It would be more of an accomplishment than this totally pointless exercise in proving why no one wants anything to do with you.

Hang your heads in the shame you deserve and find something better to do with yourselves.

Well said. I wish I could give you more than +1 Rep.

Their bravado and bluster at best, adds nothing to these forums or the game. At worst, it just turns people off.

.... Even they think the BGS being done this way is a "bit of nonsense".

They?
I just see one person on this screenshot which stated ONE opinion.
So tell me since when one person represents the opinion from all the other BGS cmdrs from a group e.g. Mobius.
Especially iirc mcrn didn't have support from the Mobius bubble-faction back then, so i wouldn't even count mcrn to mobius (back then).

Uhm... this sounds like a massive own goal.

So, you've proved that you can easily defeat a massive PG PvE group by playing exclusively in open... so PP doesn't need to become Open Only.

Is that the general message of this post? I'm confused.

Why is this an own goal? It's a goal. Proofing that it is indeed possible to defeat a whole group using only PvE activities is PvP wihtout doing PvP and this SHOULDN'T be possible.

So many excuses as to why the largest group known to the game, couldn't use Open. Top KEK

It wasn't just one person's opinion. The screenie posted by Marra shows that it was the wing commander of The Order of Mobius and that their council had long and hard deliberations about it.

So it sounds pretty official to me.

Let me say this so you can understand it.

THE ACTIVE PEOPLE TAKING PART IN BGS WORK AGAINST OTHERS.

Understand now?

What's more, in the follow-up post to the one screenshotted, another member of their Council gave a sincere apology to this ungratefull lot who are saying they never cared about it anyway.

Where's the screenshot?
And why even putting in a screenshot that is zero meaningful?

Edit: This hasn't to be answered, don't want to derail thread.

Are these SDC guys like Eve dregs that couldn't make the grade? Why do we have to suffer them? Can't they play DotA or something? Sheesh....

Well one of their former members - Rinzler - has made a lot of good videos on youtube. Some of these videos are funny, some give extremely good advice, and some are both. SDC has done operations in the past to highlight problems that Devs were ignoring (Heat meta, healing beams being OP, etc.). Rinzler seems to still be doing that, under "Top Tier" (or something like that), but I haven't seen SDC doing anything constructive in ages. I actually thought they were defunct.

If this operation is how they think their time is best used, that's truly sad.

SDC: Congratulations on whatever you think you accomplished. I've never even been to the system in question and didn't even know Mobius had one until about a month ago (and don't care). You continue to generate bad PR for PVP with your adolescent antics.

I will now return to not giving a....

What happened?

Less than 48 hours ago, a plan that was put into motion months ago finally came to fruition. The BGS of the notorious carebear group, Mobius, was put into turmoil to the point that it was abandoned. Finally, this corner of the bubble would be free of control from these people. But, how could this be? I thought that Mobius was more than 20k strong? Who could have possibly done this?

Who did it?

The eminently successful SDC masterfully organized this attack with multiple other well-known groups (who are free to reveal yourselves in the comments).

The plan was originally conceived by Supreme Allied Commander in Elite, Harry Potter, to strike at the very core of our enemy.

But Why?

Many are aware of the near-constant dunking SDC has delivered to Mobius over the last 4 years, culminating in multiple extremely successful operations testing their defenses and then overwhelming them.

There were many motivations for this attack:

  • Schmobius' behavior during a charity drive for a fellow Elite player who lost his home in a fire.

  • The incredible salt from solo/PG carebears over the proposed Powerplay changes. (There are actually people in that thread threatening to sue FDev, btw.)

The main goal of this operation was to make a point about why Powerplay needs to be open-only. It is ridiculous that unseen players can work to undermine and disrupt in Powerplay without the other side ever having a chance to see them and defend themselves, so we thought this would be a perfect demonstration of that principle, only in reverse.

How?

All BGS work was done in the SDC private group (Open) by our coalition. We knew that this was the one place that Mobius couldn't touch us. Obviously, since we are so outnumbered we HAD to do it from the safety of Open, knowing that Mobius would stop at nothing (except leaving PG) to stop us.

Result

Complete, overwhelming Allied victory.

What a load of tripe.
