SDC Presents: Operation Overlawd

That's odd, they didn't notice the attack even though it was made in open. Hmm, that defeats the purpose of open PP.
It would be interesting to hear from some players in the PMF and hear if they actually did play in PG or Open. If they were in Open, perhaps the problem was rather that they had most of SDC blocked.

Open.

Ive been about 1 year ahead of this conversation.
Wait... so they were in Open and not in PG?

Yeah, that's another issue with the PP proposal, open only PP can be easily tricked with the block button.

The guys from MCRN were board flipping and staying on pads in OPEN, Then they would leave to PG after talking some smack, Show up else where for missions. Rinse and repeat.

Which is exactly why Sandro wants to remove the ability to do powerplay stuff in PG and remove any media when you do swap modes.

LOL! And yet they lost.

Sure. I'm for it, but I'm not sure this thread really proved it. If SDC had 20,000 players in Open and yet lost against 5 players in PG, then it had been different. Now we know that Open is superior regardless if PG is there or not. Actually, doing PP/BGS in PG is apparently a losing strategy.

No they just got beat and never thought to go into open to try and stop anyone.

See this guy? Maybe this guy will make sense to you all now.

There ya go. Welcome to the show.

This is why I laugh at private groups. They are trying to "role play" and act all tough about a "cowardly group" attacking the BGS (nothing new lololol) and act like they are gonna organize some big front... but then nothing. They won't leave their private group and actually contribute to the interactions Frontier have wanted when they had a vision of Elite in their minds.

If people want to play in Private / SOLO I'm all for that, but don't pretend to be some badass while basically hiding under a bed or in a pillow fort, nothing tough about it. And this is also why PP going Open-only is a good thing, we'll actually get people who pledge to a power FIGHTING potentially. I mean the systems are so barren its not funny, anytime I need some Prismatic shields I just AFK 3 weeks for Aisling, fly over to an Archon Delaine Anarchy system, and just start farming Kumo Crew NPCs with no regard for my safety since even in Open I never see another player, let alone one willing to make me stop what I'm doing. Sure I'm not the ideal kind of person for Powerplay, but I'm clearly hurting another group in it and no one steps up to oppose me.

I've been playing a lot of a game called Overload lately (new-age Descent style game made by the original Descent series devs). It's a classic 6 degrees of freedom movement game with limited sales at the moment since it doesn't have a spotlight on it the way PUBG or Fortnite do, but even so, and even with a limited multiplayer of 7 (average online) when I check the multiplayer area, I've had more PvP in that game in a few days than I've had in about 1300 hours in Elite. Granted I'm not actively seeking out PvP in Elite, but I never leave open except to board hop, but it just doesn't happen, even when I'm doing content that should promote pvp. While I'd be salty about losing a big ship like my Corvette with a 50 mil ish rebuy (even bought / outfitted in li-yong rui space) the fact is at least it would happen, right now in Open I feel... nothing. No fear of the unknown. No human NPC can hurt me and Thargoids don't force themselves on me to be an actual threat. But not even other human players are attempting to make my life hell.

So when I see a picture from Mobius with a statement about trying to act all tough against a "cowardly group" it really irks me they think they can be badasses when they won't even leave their precious safe space.

This thread is a few hours old and is 24 pages. If they are not that relevant, then nothing is.

in another 24-36 hours this thread will be done with - anyone who's even remotely interested or rubbernecking the car crash will have posted, the fecal throwing of insults will have died down and SDC will crawl back to that place where no-one else gives a ****.

SDC, your 15 of "fame" seconds are over.

EVEN IF PP gets moved to OPEN ONLY - no-one cares to any degree, because until the announcement FDev might change it almost no-one posted threads about it for a long time now.

Moving PP to open can't fix what's broken with it, so SDC's epeen efforts are a waste of time except as a way for them to feel relevant.

Spot on.

I read this thread a success story, how to play in Open and beat PG. If they're bad in combat, it doesn't prove that Open is better, but the story that playing in Open and winning over a PG is. In other words, the system works. Only dumb decisions make people fail by choosing PG instead of Open.

But this is the second time they lost and have the audacity to complain about it.

But when others complain they say. SUCK IT UP AND FARM BACK. Hurr Durr, look at me I got this giant wall of text why we cant have open only.

When Sandro clearly states it can and probably will. At least with powerplay.

But to be honest Ive never fought for powerplay. Im tired of my player faction getting attacked over and over. And when I complained it was dumb.

And now this is a win because they lost and they are complaining?

Were gonna go ahead and stop that horsecrap right here right now? Ya dig?

Agree. PP in Open won't fix it since it's already on level that a group can win in Open over PG. The problems will only continue in Open with instancing and blocking of players, which will be the next thing FD has to fix, and then we're just going to the next thing over and over.

Maybe it's time just to realize there are things that can't be properly fixed? Maybe it's time to change how PP is done overall? I don't know.

To be fair 99.9% of mobious players do not play the mobious player minor faction.
They use the PG as a PVE version of the Galaxy. They have nothing to do with its PMF.

Though to be also fair you did beat maybe 0.01% of them !

Congrats ?

50,000 members in our community across PC,XBOX and PS4. while I agree that not many play in our group to support our player factions( it is actually around 0.32% who support our player factions and even then they don't do that as a full time thing). everyone else plays in our private groups just for the pve game. the sleeping dog club thinks that our community of pve players are out there undermining the BGS where in-fact if the Elitepve community really wanted to fly under one flag we would have become an official PP faction and would be controlling half the galaxy by now., the Sleeping dog club chose to attack our faction simply because it is a famous private group and since the Sleeping dog club had previously announced that it had been disbanded they needed a big target to say that they are just a bunch of new player that joined up and wanted to let the elite community know that they are still around.

The mobius community has been around since before the launch of the game , we have seen many PvP groups show up wanting to become famous by targeting the largest in game community and then disappear 8 months later how else would they get noticed by the community.

this latest thing that the Sleeping dog club has announced is just another blip in the history of blips that our community has come across, we are very flattered that the sleeping dog club with its new members have decided to play Elite as a PvE game just as we have for the past few years.

here is a suggestion stop trying to attack an idea(PvE) because as history has shown you cant win, and saying that private groups are undermining open is just nonsense.

I'd like to see PP and BGS in Open, so I'm with you there. But this thread was still a success story of how Open won over PG. Not the other way around. And their complaining, well, you're not getting that from me. I think they should have played in Open. But even so, I suspect they still would've lost.

Well, the funny part is that they won in Open over PG, so the PG undermining Open is a moot point (at least in this discussion).

If SDC had done it in their own PG, well, then they would have proved the point better, to show that there's no defense from hidden groups. But in this case, Open won, and PG didn't make a difference (except for losing).

Hey big shot with no clue. It does happen and quite often.

Maybe you should pay attention to your own boys doing it.

How about the splinter group that left MCRN and other parts of mobius to attack PA because you didnt want trouble within your own group? Or did you think we didnt know about that either?
