Searching the Forum for Answers

There is a MASSIVE amount of information on the Forum to address just about any question one could ask. The problem is that the search engine on the Forum to put it politely sucks. Post a new message on the Forum, click on New Posts and most of the time you won't see it. Go to Elite Dangerous/Dangerous Discussion where you posted it and you will see it. It get's worse trying to find the answer for a specific issue.

There are two options:

1 Submit your query followed by SITE:forums.frontier.co.uk on your favorite search engine.

2 Elite Dangerous followed by your query on Google.

I like option 2. For example with Google type in "Elite Dangerous X-55 problem". You'll get primary hits from Reddit and the Forum. Click on "More results from forums.frontier.co.uk" in one of the hits and you'll get pages of every issue with the Saitek X-55 controller on the Forum.

I'm not judging FD's search engine as this software is usually a 3rd party purchase and the Devs have a lot more to do than figure out how to get it working correctly. But with the above options you can usually find what you are looking for in minutes. It often takes longer to write a post or a gripe and then your responses are pretty much limited per who is online.

It's a high speed world and we all want solutions ASAP. This is one way to get them.

Bought in software package with search functionality isn't as good at searching as one of the biggest companies in the world whose speciality is searching for things shocker.

I frequent several forums on varying topics, this is the norm ime :)
