Previously: Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, Season 4, Season 5, Season 6, Season 7 and Season 8 (plus How large are squadrons?)
On each graph, points are on the Y-axis, and squadron position on the leaderboard is on the X-axis. Both scales are logarithmic. The light grey line (diamond marker) is the numbers for the previous season, the dark grey line (triangle marker) is the numbers for the same season last year (season 1) [1], and all stats are PC only. As in previous seasons, the approximate power-law distribution continues, allowing estimates of total activity to be made without spending too long reading the boards.
Anti Xeno (99 pages)
Winners: Vampyr Ponys with ~20% of all points. Anti-Xeno Initiative and Silverbacks take the other trophies.
Well, contrary to the prediction in the Season 8 report, the "return of the Thargoids" turned out to be short-lived. Activity is generally slightly down on last season as a result, though in the sort of coincidence which is bound to happen if you collect enough numbers, the winning score this season was within 0.1% of the winning score for Season 8. Vampyr Ponys, after several close previous attempts, finally take the Gold. AXI pick up another Silver which together with their other trophies this season take them to a total of 20 trophies.
Combat (1127 pages)
Winners: Civitas Dei with ~1% of all points. AXI and Lavigny's Legion take the other trophies.
The number of combat-active squadrons continues to increase, but the overall pattern of activity in the top 1000 remains very consistent. Civitas Dei a new winner in combat, taking a Gold to go with their earlier collection of Political trophies.
CQC (83 pages)
Winners: The Winged Hussars (5th time) with ~20% of all points. CQC Discord and Elite United Worlds take the other trophies
Overall activity basically identical to last season here, no new winners, not a lot to say. Still probably a fairly easy target for a small squadron that wants a trophy of some sort, though.
Exploration (1295 pages)
Winners: Enigma Dyson Syndicate with ~3% of all points. DSN and Distant Vets take the other trophies.
With the first three boards being quite similar I was wondering if this was going to be a boring report ... and then Exploration comes along. Three entirely new names in the top 3 (though Enigma have a Trade trophy from season 8), and for the first time none of them the original Distant Worlds squadrons (the highest of which is EDSM in 6th). The totals are quite a bit higher than last season throughout the top 50 squadrons, though as seen from the graph not quite as high as in Season 1.
Powerplay (51 pages)
Winners: Aisling's Angels with ~15% of all points. Federal Liberal Command and Aisling Wing Command take the other trophies.
Pages - as with the other specialist boards - slightly down on last season's record, but still the second highest. A new winner of the Gold as Aisling's Angels narrowly beat Federal Liberal Command to the top with the highest score since Season 3. Overall activity generally slightly higher throughout.
Trade (1217 pages)
Winners: The Buur Pit with ~2% of all points. Dark Enterprise and Anti-Xeno Initiative take the other trophies.
Another new Gold winner in trade makes 5 of 6 boards with first-time Gold awards. This is the first season entirely under the new mining and trade prices (and almost all before the Fleet Carrier price announcement) so as well as the comparison to season 8 - noticeably higher in the top 30, then fairly similar after that - it's also interesting to compare with season 7 which was the last season entirely under the old mining and trade prices.
An interesting result, given the state of the forums three months ago...

As usual the number of squadrons active enough to appear on the generalist leaderboard continues to slowly rise. Presumably at some point this will plateau off once everyone who could possibly make use of the squadron feature has joined or created one and the normal ebb and flow of people joining and leaving the game starts to dominate ... but probably not soon - the rise between seasons remains almost perfectly linear, for now.
[1] Season 2 was a half-length season, so exactly what counts as the "same season last year" is a bit hard to say. I'm going to stick with season 1 this time and switch to season 3 next time.
