Season Ending Soon: PS4 Owners getting the short end of the stick?

Well at least we can see that people will fit in really well to the fora.... The game isn't even released yet and already they are moaning.... Welcome to the world of Elite Dangerous

Not all moaning is bad. I, for one, am very much looking forward to June 27th!!!

Disadvantages to PS4 version
- It's late, relative to the PC, Mac and Xbox One versions
- You don't get a season of upgrades after purchase

Advantages to PS4 version
- You get all the same content as the PC and Xbox One versions, cheaper.
- You get all that content almost straight away (bar the wait for 2.4) as opposed to waiting 1-2 years for those to be added
- You get content the Mac version doesn't (and may never) have

The biggest advantage is: it will available for play on the PS4 after many years regardless of what the other platforms have or not.....

I'm very excited!

So the "Horizons" season is almost finished. Which I presume means there will be a new "expansion"/"season" to purchase. Okay, I generally don't have a problem with this model[1].

However it means PS4 players are probably going to get "horizons" now, have it for 6 or so months until "new horizons" is released (probably December). PC players have been on horizons since Dec 2015, so I assume 2 years.

It seems like PS4 players will need to buy the game, horizons & new horizons in a 6 month period, while everyone else got at least 2 years for horizons.

Am I missing something? Has Frontier considered this?

[1] ie, Game makers need to pay for things, but users don't need to keep paying if they are happy to restrict themselves to older content.

Considering a lot of people have complained about paying so far up front as they've done with the season, I think it is actually the opposite, PS4 gets everything in the season in one go.

PS4 are not getting short end of stick, they are getting all of the Horizons DLC.

if you read the main announcement about 2.4 this will be released slowly after PS4 launch - as I surmise it's going to be linked to a large war, or wars.

Post 2.4 is wholly unknown apart from FDev stating in the 2.4 announcement that developement will continue on core game and Quality OF Life improvements.

So PS4 players are getting exactly the same experience and options as Xbox and PC players, no one is missing out and no one is getting shafted.

Thanks but No thanks. One OP and a select 'others'.

The PS4 fans who have been here and posting consistently from very early on i the piece have been doing very little 'moaning' excepting that we wanted ot know when the release date was going to be. BY AND LARGE the PS4 usuals have been very upbeat.

How can one not be upbeat if you're a PS4er. ED is coming for us and we embrace it. Perhaps in a couple of years, we may become cynical... But for now, I'm looking forward in being in the black.

We are inching closer...

Hell yeah. A week ago I was only vaguely aware ED was some sort of space sim, and then spotted it on the ps store. I havent had a gaming pc in 15 years, and I'm bloody excited an actual space sim is comin' to ps4.

I really don't understand the complaint here.

It's not like buying a season ticket for a football team near the end of the football season.

The Horizons "season" coming to a close doesn't mean that PS4 players are missing out on anything - they are still getting the exact same content as PC/Xbox players, they're just getting it later because they're getting the game itself later (with that lateness meaning they're jumping straight to 2.3 instead of waiting for each element to be released gradually).

Horizons won't become irrelevant when the next "season" starts.

It's amazing value - especially when you consider what you tend to get for your money for a season pass / expansion pass for a big-name AAA game.
