Second account on Steam

If I buy a copy of the game on Steam, how does the registration work? Can I use any email address I like, or is it automatically linked to my Steam account's email address?

You'll have to start Steam to run it (to authenticate), it's linked to your Steam account.

AFAIK, Frontier themselves have the same sale on (unless it's disappeared again from the web shop). :D

If I remember correctly, each CMDR has to have a different email address. I have three on all different email addresses.

@Webshop: bought 25,000 Arx three days ago to take advantage of sale and still not appeared in game. Better shoot team a support ticket before the sale ends.

While each e-mail address used needs to be unique for the Frontier account, it's possible to use a single gmail address for multiple CMDRs, i.e. user+CMDR#1@gmail.com and user+CMDR#2@gmail.com are unique for Frontier account purposes but e-mail to both will be received by user@gmail.com

Steam launches the Frontier launcher. You then register the game with the Frontier launcher just like you would without Steam. The differences between Steam-purchased and Frontier-purchased are pretty much transparent after you click "Play" in Steam.

It should be noted that this is a gmail speciality and not neccessarily supported by other mail providers.

The bottom line is: For a second CMDR you need a frontier account with an email that is different than your first one. Steam or otherwise.

You will probably find it easier to use the same email fro the Steam account and the Frontier account so that you don't get your accounts muddled up.

If your Steam account is using the same email as your Frontier purchased account then you can just create a new Steam account using a different email and then use that same email to create the associated Frontier account.

This is definitely not a good idea. Doing this may result in the same commander for both installs. The whole point is apparently to have two commanders, which will require two separate accounts. Separate accounts have to have different email addresses (as viewed by Frontier).

Your Steam account and your Frontier account can have the same email, but as you say if you have Steam Purchased Cmdr and a Frontier purchased Cmdr then the Frontier Account for the Steam Purchased Cmdr will need to use a different email than the Steam Purchased Cmdr. I thought that my second paragraph made that clear, but perhaps not.
