Yep you clearly don't get the point I am making. The point I am making is that from now on (v 1.3) explorers will have to be more mindful of possible combat when either leaving or returning. I get the point you are trying to make, but it isn't always a viable tactic and explorers may want to start equipping their ships differently than the bare bones way we were in 1.2.Maybe you are unaware that a T-6 can boost to 406 which is as fast enough to escape anything except a CMDR in a Cobra or a DBS, if they are very quick. If you know how to navigate quickly and boost, an AI will never catch you. So a T-6 is safe as houses and almost never has any need to fight at all. Likewise with a Cobra explorer, obviously.
By your own admission in an earlier post, you are rarely going to actually NEED the full distance of that drive unless you are exploring in the outer regions of the galaxy... This entire bit contradicts your defense for use of the T6 as an explorer.I completely get the point you're making. It is not a relevant point however because you can pick ships where you never need to fight. If you pick a ship that can fight but is also forced to fight, that is not really any kind of advantage. That is just a requirement. More to the point, if you spec it so that it can win most fights, then it suddenly becomes a very mediocre explorer ship with only a 29LY jump range. The fact that it can fight half way decently is interesting, but it's not a benefit to exploring or to staying alive in the bubble.
This isn't about Thargoids, it's about dealing with being interdicted mass lock/FSD charge impeded and how many hits you will take before you jump. This is fairly important as shields no longer recharge in supercruise to maximum amount... If you start getting hit a lot, fighting back will make the other craft take more evasive maneuvers to avoid fire allowing you to escape after putting distance between you and the target. And finally, picking a ship where you are forced to fight is the same as picking a fight. If you have 10s of millions in CR in your ship, it is abysmally foolish to pick a fight. Again the only exception to this is Thargoids which would be the whole point of exploring if they existed in the game, imo. But they don't.
Well see ya I guess.Hopefully this was easy to understand and provided useful information. There is nothing more I can add to this discussion so...
