Hello all,
something which disturbs me or the immersion already from the beginning (release), because I know in Eve its realized. And it disturbs me more and more when I read what they plan to realize in Star Citizen:
There is no "security simulation" in the Elite Galaxy. Some of the PVP-section would say: "Ey carebear, the game isn't called Elite:Logic, it's Elite
angerous!".
Result: If you play powerplay you find in every system - even the power HQ - agents of other powers (Logic? Surely not!). Gankers can kill dozens of players/NPCs without fear that the background will do something against this. Players could kill hundreds of NPCs. The system authority doesn't care about. The game sets you wanted and the System Security maybe controls you accidentally with a wing of two eagles or vipers.
I like that you can pirate. But because "Elite is Dangerous!" there should be something which makes dangerous pirating or killing Players/NPCs or even just being in the false system with the false flag (like ALD-follower in Hudson-systems). Or if I kill as a ALD-Follower another ALD-Follower (the well known PVP-gankers) I should be hunted by real dangerous NPCs of ALD. I remember the first time I was allowed to visit SOL and I plotted my route as an Imperial. In the end nothing was dangerous. It was even boring. Ok, seeing earth and all this was fun - but something related to Powerplay? Nope. Hudsons agents ignored me.
For example: When a group of players kills hundreds of agents for merits in one system - at least the system authority would sent a fleet to fight them. Even the power would sent a fleet. If you get more points for this merit kill and it takes more immersive time and tasks it wouldn't be necessary to grind so much. Just a few kills as an agent with a dangerous hide and run away mission. Or real powerplay combat zones at the border of the power controlled area.
And pirates should hide themselves in Anarchy-Systems. And valuable trade routes should lead into or through dangerous systems. It would reduce the grind and give more immersive fun which makes sense inside the Background and feels logic. Don't know how many NPCs I've killed during over some weeks keeping up rank 5 in powerplay. If you think deeper about it, it's just ridiculous.
Ok, it's a game, but it's a simulation game which want to give an immersive and logic feel of the Galaxy, not a simple grouse shooter. It has even a "back ground simulation".
A well designed Security Simulation would give starters a more easy and save way into open play. For gankers it would be a lot more dangerous. Powerplay would make more sense and wouldn't feel like a nonfitting extra of the game. Traders and Pirates would meet more often or trading is a lot more less lucrative. PVP would meet in combat areas, in a joust - a PVP-Arena (like it already exist as a community driven content) or in a dangerous agent mission.
