Honestly though, the missiles aren't that great. Especially for solo. As the plot develops and more weapons and defences are developed, it's likely destroying interceptors will become "the norm"... and then we'll start seeing things like wings of interceptors and, as mentioned, capital class thargoids.
What if we're just being given an initial sense of false hope?
These Interceptor ships we're fighting are listed as scouts in the statistics panel....
I am not so much talking about how strong the AX stuff is than about the way it was introduced.
Thargoids appear - do the (fetching) thing - receive the antidote.
Not only does it smell a bit like immediate gratification, the whole matter has been a bit anti-climatic so far.
It is not like the Thargoids have done anything of note yet. Nothing has changed. (except the content of some USSs and maybe there will be CZs later on) So, even if virtually invincible capital ships appeared tomorrow it would make little difference. So far the alien story is told the same way and with the same tools as everything else.
Maybe I was just expecting too much game-changing drama from the story arc because it was so long in the making. Admittedly, that would be my own fault.
Too late I realized that my post may read like a small rant. Sorry, that wasn´t really the intention. Just my 2c.
