self defence stupid and useless

I had a bounty of 400 and I was on my way to station to pay it. In super cruise I got interdicted, npc shot me but I get away with boost but I thought to return and make him pay. I eliminate him and my bounty got bigger: 9000. Arrived at station and got another 400 because I was scanned.

Why did you kill a clean NPC? What did you expect? You are a criminal and you expect things to get better when you kill innoncent people? Thats quite the definition of a killing spree.

You were the one with the bounty on you,, going back to kill him (a law abiding citizen btw cleansing the universe of bad guys like you :) ) wasn't a good idea because in the eyes of the law, well you fought it and it won !

You had a bounty on your head so were a legal target. You could've just run away and pay off your 400 Cr bounty. But you decided to attack another ship that you had no legal rights to engage.

Decisions and consequences.

Working as intended. Did you expect a pat on the back for murdering the law abiding bounty hunter who was legally within rights to attack you?

Learn from it and move on.

So frontier I shoud stay for a bounty of 400 to be be terminated and pay 80k for insurance?? What smart guy designed this? In a good day I have to pay 9800 "only"?

Greetings commander,

Lets put this into context shall we?

You were wanted by the authorities for the tune of 400credits. You are a minor criminal in the local area, and enforcment agencies that find you will bring you to justice.

You get caught, but manage to escape... but then you go back and MURDER someone who was trying to bring you to justice.

You are now a MAJOR criminal in the area.

You then tried to dock with a station where you are classed as a major criminal... and are surprised when they open fire?

To use a real life analogy...

A known petty thief gets pulled over by the cops... he runs, but then comes back and MURDERS the cops... then tries to walk straight into a police station to say hi...

what were you thinking?

Works as intended (as the above posters have stated).

Man robs old lady and becomes criminal, a police man attempts to reprimand said criminal later in the day, criminal attacks police man and calls it "self defense".

Shouldn't laugh, I'm sure this unfortunate scenario plays out a lot. Let's hope ydocryn doesn't do real life like he does Elite Dangerous.

Federation and Empire allows you not to pay their bounties. They are bluffing and cheating anyway so never pay them. Go to Alliance, we have cookies. But you better pay your bounties with us. Because we are nice and fair.

P.S.
Working as intended.

So in fact "self defence" was actually "Murder by a wanted fugitive", which resulted in summary execution as would be expected.

Nothing is achieved by complaining about the game doing what it supposed to do.

Consider firstly; pay your fines.
Secondly don't murder people with a clean rating, no matter how aggrieved you feel about them chasing the bounty on your head.
If you are in trouble with the law visit a (non-military) outpost and pay your fines (where there are no patrols to scan you).
Don't wait to pay fines until you are the target of every bounty hunter this side of the galaxy.

Good luck in your new ship commander!

It's a lie.

The Empire has better cookies and cake.

Crime doesn't pay. Sometimes.

If you are wanted can you enter hubs without getting shot, this is something that isn't clear to me atm.

To be clear... It is not the stations that scan you. It is the security ships that patrol near the stations.

Sneaking into a patroled station can be done, but it is difficult and needs a good grasp on how to use silent running, plus good flying skills.

If you need to pay of a bounty in a jurisdiction... It is much safer to go to an outpost (smaller stations) where there are often no patroling ships at all to scan you.

Also... Remember that your wanted status is specific to the faction that issued the bounty. If you are wanted in an independent system... The federation doesnt care... If you are wanted in a federal system... The empire doesn't care... Etc etc.
