Self-Updating Queue Time Signs

When Planet Coaster was in Alpha 3 I had seen many threads on other sites with the same question as mine. How about the devs add queue time signs?

Disney parks have these signs at the entrances of the majority of their attractions to inform upcoming riders of the queue time, and I really think this information would be useful to the game. The picture above is exactly what I am talking about. The game could generate the wait times automatically to the signs. Also, the signs should be able to be themed, (Sci-Fi, Western, and all of the themes available in the game).

Another useful queue time sign would be one like this:

These signs could be placed around the park to inform guests in Planet Coaster about queue times for many rides across the park. The devs could probably manage to have the guests interact with these signs, both the ones at the entrances and the ones that display several queue times. I think these would be very helpful and add to the realism of the game.

Great idea. Would make parks a lot more realistic and could potentially encourage guests to enter the queue if the queue time is low or try other rides if high (which could possibly link to ride advertising with signs). :)

Wouldn't the calculations required have an impact on performance though? Because I'm pretty sure to get the approximate queue time you divide the number of people in the queue by the maximum capacity per ride (which I believe gives you the number of rides that'll be dispatched while you're queueing) and then you multiply that by the amount of time it takes to dispatch a train. That being said, for instance, if you had a queue of (say) 1280 people, 32 people per ride and a loading/dispatch time of 2 minutes, your queue time would be approximately 80 minutes.

(I hope that's right anyway...)

Queue time is already calculated and displayed in the ride info panel. The monitors would simply synchronise their data with the queue time data from the rides panels.

This is a great idea!

Would also be good if guests actually looked at these (especially the sign with multiple rides), and went to the 2 or 3 rides with the lowest queue times. This might help spread the guest population throughout your park rather than having them clumped together in 1 or 2 places.

if it has effect on peeps behaviour (next desired ride to visit) i am interested in the implementation of this idea.

that would be a lot of calculations to factor in for each guest, placing transport rides already adds a heavy load to guest decision making. If you place a sign that says the wait is 1 hour but in reality it would be shorter by the time they walk to the ride, then its not really helping it would just delay things more its best for the guests to see the time at the queue entrance

i see your point, but honestly i don't think that it would add up that much of calculation that performance would suffer - visitor pathing behaviour is already based on many calculations, and i am pretty sure that one further conditional inside those existing algorithms wouldn't cost anything a player would "feel".

nevertheless... performance of this game is always a critical factor, no matter if new things will be added by the devs or not, it already suffers when we create some coasters and add some buildings - even on high end machines. this engine came at least 5 years too early, technology wasn't ready for it ;)

I'd like signs that can copy the waiting times from rides and keep them up to date, when connected, not necessarily as a tool to guide guests, just for aesthetic reasons.
