Sell my fleet Catrrier?

Sell my fleet Catrrier?

Greetings,

I love my FC as it is invulnerable to any attack. I can fly it anywhere with 34 engineered ships playing with the Guardian sites, taking on the Thargoids and their bases and fly into the deep black. But I have already done this before the FCs ever showed up. I still use all my ships with an Asp Explorer with a huge jump range to go play with them including gathering materials easy to do.

So why do I need a fleet carrier other than I can own one? It costs me 9.5 million credits a week to own one while my game play never uses it much. I can certainly go fly some where and generate millions of credits never using a FC but why?

Maybe I should sell this fleet carrier and await for Odyssey to show up. Given how it takes forever for the Frontier Devs to add to the game it could save a lot of credits. Your opinion? Still emotionally I love looking at my FC offering Tritium for sale if Frontier would give me reliable 4k places to purchase it then sell it in the black. Hydrogen fuel costs nothing. Tritum cost 40k or more? What programmer thought that this would be a good idea?

Regards

I never actually got around to buying one & don't really feel I'm missing out on anything, nor do I dock on anyone elses except occasionally a friends carrier to re-arm & repair with them when we are fighting CZs together.

So go for it, sell the carrier & buy another when you feel you need one (or miss having one) :)

I suspect though, that if you sell it you'll have a massive abundance of credits & nothing better to spend it on ;)

I adore my Carrier, personally. She acts as a mobile base of operations, and allows me to consolidate all my ships and modules in one place - it's great for organization. Plus, I enjoy the personal head-narrative it provides, to say nothing of the ability to store cargo.
The Jump animation is fun, as is jumping ahead to watch her arrive out of Hyperspace.

Perhaps the best advantage is the Carrier Bank, where I can keep the bulk of my funds on the mother-ship, and can thus keep better track of my profits and losses.
All-in-all, I love my HMCS Bonaventure - she's a great addition. :)

never wanted one. Have one. Love it. I use it from a roleplay perspective. It is an old, rugged, ("corrosion"-skin) smugglers-base. It sells stolen commodities. I loved to have another one (at my home at Colonia). This is in the bubble, as I decided so for the beginning (probably this will change).

As I get used to use my own fc I understand the function and possibilities of fc more. So I started to travel to other FC and look what I can find there.

So: don´t sell your carrier. It is still great endgame stuff.

At 25 billion in assets yes I have a massive abundance of credits. Other players made a lot more than me. Meanwhile some players grinding away to obtain a fleet carrier 'because it is there' won't have the funds to keep it flying. Very few of us who own them haven't made a profit flying them without loading up with Meta alloys and Thargoid hearts.

If your regular gameplay using the FC doesn't generate enough credits to completely cover your FC expense and then some, then I'd say sell it, it's just a giant hood ornament for your account(s).

On the other hand, have you actually tried new gameplay options that optimize FC use? Before FCs dropped I did a lot of mining, some exploration, occasional CGs, and fewer and fewer missions. Now my FC makes it easier for me to focus on mining and exploration. Selling data to the on-board UC pays all my FC expenses and puts creds in my wallet as well, while mining boosts my bank account as well as fueling the FC. My first 25 or so weeks in the black with my FC netted me 3.2Bcr, which I could not have done without the FC as it allows all activities from a common base, which is the essential nature of the beast as I see it.

Your's only costs 9.5M per week? I pay $14/month for my Netflix subscription whether I watch it or not. That means I paying $3.50 per week for something that I'm not using, roughly equivalent to the 9.5M credits per week you pay in game. Certainly nothing to fret about given that 10M amounts to a few minutes of in-game play time. On the other hand, if you really can't find uses for it, perhaps you should sell it to free up an orbit for someone else to park their carrier.

Now we have a discussion about Fleet Carriers. Me being negative to start got some replies. Sneaky. Let's go with this.

I'd say, keep it until Odyssey comes out.
You have credits to spare for a few months.
If Ody turns out to be a huge dissapointment for you, come back to FC and find some new use for it. Or maybe combine it? :)

OP, when you were a kid, did you collection toy cars, planes, animals etc and wanted way to carry more than one of them to a friends house to play?

If so, you still need a fleet carrier.

The great thing about this carrying case is, unlike ones from the past, is that it's indestructible and you friends can stump any of your toys while they're in it. The bad things is that you have to continually pay mom and dad to use it.

On a slightly different note I don't have a carrier. Since the introduction of carriers though I have noticed a slightly disappointing drop in people around.

For example, Shinrarta used to be a wretched hive of scum and villainy, a supercruise to Jameson ran the risk of interdiction every time. It was great fun and a sure place to get combat- great for testing a build.

Now it's a backwater with hardly anyone there. My perception since FC's came out is that it's changed the dynamic of the game.

Cable TV,

I pay about $330.00 a month for every movie channel and every option with four cable boxes in my house going to Samsung latest greatest flat screen TVs. I worked for Samsung so I got a discount. Add in a 240 MBPS download and a phone I can talk to anyone in the world for $40.00 a month all I need is a translator.

But cable isn't doing it. I watch more shows on Netflix. Going with Amazon Prime I see more shows. Amazon's Fire Stick gives me access to many other shows for free but have commercials. I rarely watch a movie on my cable. Maybe because that I am an old guy cable isn't offering the movies that I want to see. they are omre about the younger crowd watching these flicks.

The Getaway with Steve McQuween (1972) for example. With today's 'woke' it would never be seen. Did you know Toots Thielmans played the harmonica for the music? Did you EVER know who Toots was? Probably not.

Anyway the Internet is moving on and the cable companies versus the Internet need to to adjust to survive.

still: you always have a lag watching sport-games: I came back to cable because I noticed my neighbors screaming "Goal!", while in my TV the player was still running against the goal (soccer of course ;-)) It sometimes took 10 seconds.

And even on cable today the news have a 5 second offset to my radio-controlled watch.

Dumped the cable company bundle years ago for a gigabit internet connection and with the exception of Amazon Prime, get all the TV and movies I could ever want for free. Gives me time to support two Fleet Carriers! :ROFLMAO:

I cut my cable ($150/mo, no premium channels) almost a year ago and now pay $14/month for all the movies and TV shows I want. Combined with free movies on NBC, ABC, Roku, etc, and I never plan on going back to cable TV. I'm an old guy, too, and I got tired of see news channels that describe all whites as racists, all men as toxic, all Christians as hate mongers, and all Hollywood celebrities as qualified political pundits. Cable TV? Who needs it. Welcome to the age of streaming TV.

LOL in real life. Maybe I'll keep one and considering purchasing another.

I feel for you. Politics. On cable you pay for everyone even if you never watch them. You have no choice. On Internet streaming you have a choice. Go with it.

Firstly OP, running cost/week is irrelevent IMO.
If you've attained enough credits to purchase a Carrier.....you can afford to run one.
If not......why buy one in the first place🤷‍♂️.

Secondly, by having all your Ships, or at least your main Ships on board your Carrier, you will likely have everything at hand.

I have my 'Conda on board doing Exploring in lesser density regions, with my Carrier as back up for really less dense regions - that's assuming my Carrier doesn't leave me stranded🤬.
It's set up to Mine with 120T capacity while exploring, looking for that Mining 'pay dirt'.

My Cutter, set up with 512T Mining capacity when I find that 'pay dirt' & for Exploring in the denser regions with a lesser jump range.

My Python, is on board for the sellling of the commodities obtained through Mining at best prices possible.

My Krait Phantom, for Exploring planet surfaces.

My Asp is along for the ride - as it's my first 'main' Ship that I utilised in the game before buying my 'Conda.

And I've got my first alt account's Ship on board - in case I need an emergency transfer of Tritium to jump.

So I've got everything that I'm likely to do, with it's own Ship readied while roaming around in the black, without the need to mark a system, return to a Station, transfer the Ship I need, go back to the marked System.

My UC utility negates any of the weekly running costs & is a steady income to my account, while Exploring - that wouldn't be possible pre-Carrier until I dumped it all on the first Staion I came to, maybe months later! - assuming I survived that far (some player's lose Ship's & data......not me though😎)

I'v got a 20K+ storage capacity to fill while doing a bit of Mining here & there collecting higher value goodies, to be sold to fund my Tritium for the next trip - again a bonus for not having to return to sell my 512T maximum at a reduced market price because of bulk tax.

Main thing though is I'm playing the game.
When Carrier's launched in June, I'd not played in months & was set not to play until Odyssey's release. At first it was 'meh', mainly because of how the restrictions were being impacted on how I wanted to use a Carrier.
As these improved it became more acceptable & I started playing again - just need that Tritium to be tweaked in Mining Rings now😉

So Carrier's for me is Win/Win.
