Powerplay Selling Biological Data Weekly Assignment to certain system doesn't work, is it bug?

Same for me. The weekly assignment this week, week 49, stated to 'deliver biological samples to <namely specified system.>'. The samples should be worth 332163 credits. I tried that several times but no merits gained for handing in the samples nor did the assignment proceed in any way

Two weeks ago I also had such an assignment, but that proceeded. While I was lucky that there was a fleet carrier in the system with exobiology installed and active..Other wise there only was an outpost, so no vista genomocs present. Which by itself is a stupid way to generate assignemnts.

I handed in in private group, but since powerplay is not open only that really shouldn't matter. Since there are no biological features in the specified system this week, I had to get them from a different system. Also it is not stated in the assignment that the data must be from the system the assiignment is tied to, which, again, would be a stupid way to generate assignments when there is nothing present to get the data, nor to hand it in.
Since you mention it, apart from trying to scan the data and sell it in the same system, I also tried selling it in a station (since in my case there is one) and also in my own carrier that has Vista Genomics, but again nothing has worked, there is definitely a bug.

On the other hand, at the beginning of PP 2.0 everything was going quite well, certainly the fact that many people rose in rank extremely easily since they had accumulated data is something that the developers did not expect, and at the same time that it was somewhat easy to rise from rank for some outside of the weekly assignments, I think it was not their intention, I think they expected people to depend on these and not other activities, and well, their solution has been a disaster, they have made it too complicated to rise in rank, in my case for the time I have to play, I only favored trading rare goods during the week, and I left the rest for the weekends, but now I'm stuck at rank 41 since I haven't been able to find activities with which to acquire a good amount of merits constantly, donating things like tritium can be quite effective, but very expensive and is not easy to find where to donated, donating credits is quite ineffective, trading commodities doesn't seem to work very well either, I think that selling one by one gives more merits than selling in lots, which is quite irritating, and now that the merits in the weekly activities have increased, they are broken or many are quite annoying to do like the ones in Odyssey settlements, anyway, honestly PP 2.0 was a good idea but very poorly executed, I think I'm going to avoid it while they resolve it properly, I'd better defend the earth from the titan's attack XD.

Open made no difference.

Gonna try sampling and handing in within the same system as soon as I find something to scan!!
I've tried selling the data from the same system and it didn't work. I had sold more than 70millions worth of data from same/different system and to different Vista Genomics, nothing worked.

Ugh … that’s so annoying!!! Best mission of the week and I’ve wasted like 5 hours chasing it.

Believe me, I wasted more hours...so sad.

Not sure how other cmdrs still can make few hundred thousands of merits weekly.

Yeh - me either … switching pledges didn’t help but I’m not gonna get anywhere at this rate …

I totally agree, I don't see how they can continue earning merits to the point of adding more than 100,000 weekly to those in the top 10, when we could earn it with rare goods I understand it, being somewhat lazy I managed one week of 130,000 and one more of 120,000, but since they deactivated them I have not been able to add more than 20,000 weekly merits, hence I could only reach rank 41 and I'm stuck there, if I had known I would have filled with Soontill Relics my carrier and gotten the maximum rank in the first two weeks of PP2.0, well, it's too late to do it now XD

Is it new data or just scanning already discovered biologicals? If it's new biologicals than most likely a trip out a couple hundred Ly.

In my case it was all new data, once in the same system and two more at more than 200ly.

Edit: The data on the same system was already discovered, but the other two all new with the x5 bonus.

Same for me … initially grabbed 100mil of new bio samples from 9 jumps away (at a 50LY jump range that should be around 400LY total distance) and when that didn’t work, grabbed some in the Reinforcement system itself.

In terms of pure merits per hour, core mining in a system with suitable hotspots and a high-price market to sell to is probably the most effective right now. You need to be able to mine and sell in the same power-aligned system which narrows down the options but it's very powerful if you can find the right place.

I got about 100,000 this week mostly from doing a bunch of surface reactivation missions and making data uploads and downloads while I was there and had the base to myself, so they're also good if you can find an enemy system with a bunch of shut down bases near your own front line.
(Or if you're better at FPS than I am, active bases can be found anywhere)

That's the problem for me, I'm "ok" at FPS, but I don't liked in this game XD, in fact, I don't like most of the Oddyssey on foot related missions, that is why I'm focus only in ship related methods, and I don't like minning, really bad at that, anyway, I gonna test one oldest method form the PP1.0 that It seems to be very effective, I'll tell you later.

which can be concluded this way, at the beginning of PP2, everyone can farm merits in their likings but now only certain CMDRs can farm merits from those stuffs that we are not good at.

Frankly, I think PP can **** off right now ...

With the Exobiology not working I turned my attention to the last two tasks for the week:

  • Destroy Opposing Power Ships in Pikum
  • Scan Megaships in Reinforcement systems

There are no Opposing Power Ships in Pikum. No CZs. Not a single "Power" USS to drop into. No Power ships at the Nav Beacon. None in the HazRES I checked.

Found a Megaship (it's even labelled as such) and scanned it using the Data Scanner whatsit built in to my ship. Task shows 0 megaships scanned.

... I am so done with this!!!!

No, that one requires a system relatively near some other Power's space to work. I've had a similar one this week.

"Scan Megaships" means "Scan the Ship Log Uplink of the megaships". So:
- scan megaship with Data Scanner to reveal its subtargets
- fly up closer, find the Ship Log Uplink subtarget (if it has more than one, the lower-numbered one)
- get within 200m of that and scan that with the Data Scanner

There's one type of megaship (one of the prison ones) where this doesn't work properly, but the rest do.

Thanks - worth knowing if the same task comes up for another week. Is the need to scan that particular Log Uplink in the task and I missed it?

I'm beginning to wonder if getting that weekly task actually prevents opposing ships from spawning, as I got it in a system I know I have killed opposing powers in last cycle but after a few hours have now given up, none at nav beacon or signal sources (PP or otherwise), none in SC to pull, and none when dropping to any stations or surface sites. I also cannot get completion for the exploration data task this week, all new data with single turn ins larger than the minimum to register (some greater than the total amount needed) sold at systems with each of the levels of reinforcement, then tried an acquisition system as well just to see.

I've never got this to work in any Reinforcement System when told this is where to sell. I even had one named system (HIP ??????) to sell in, that had NO Vista Genomics store to sell at anywhere! I tried moving my carrier to this system and sold the bio data there but this didn't work either.
