It seems there are a mixture of issues why it doesn't work. Some bugs, some real (no money or space)
What Frontier need to do is at least put some error messages explaining why.

I'm curious if you guys were inside the carrier when selling or on the surface. It seems weird I know, but I've had far more issues when doing transactions while inside a carrier than when on the surface.

Just again, 2 FC's in a row for a sale for 400mil would not go through. no errors, just a error sound
Selling small batches doesn't work either, well didn't on these 2 FC's
Both had demands in the 1000's so I can only assume it is a BUG or the carrier didn't have the 400mil credits to pay me.

3rd FC I was lucky.

That sort of suggests that your second suggestion is the correct one. Insufficient funds to cover the purchase. Perhaps the carrier owners didn't really understand the budgetary requirements of running a commodities market.

There again, is could just be a bug.

I believe the bug is in the setting up of the buy order in the first place, not the actual selling. If you edit a buy order, it screws with the balance, and records it as a negative balance when it shouldn't be.
