Recently in another thread I was challenged to demonstrate my FA-Off skills and post a video of it. I don't claim to be anywhere near the best but I am at least competent at it. Here is my video answer to the challenge.

I wouldn't recommend doing it with an expensive ship. Course the catch is the only ships small enough to fit are the small cheap ones.

Practice is the key. I'd definitely recommend a G5 engineered Sidey tho over the Viper to start wtih. Much easier to handle off-boost, and if you can scoop-boost the trenches no problem after a while. Everything is in vert/lat control.

What's "scoop-boost"? Honestly the main reason Ive been using the viper is because when I first started I kept getting knocked around and viper had enough armor I could get out before being killed but now my recovery time is pretty quick and it's not as much of a problem. Scoop boost is to use the cargo scoop as a speed limiter, retarding the boosted thrust until you want to let it go on a vector of your choosing.

To be clear, I wasnt questioning the video, just wondering where the challenge was posted. Without seeing the actual challenge it is impossible to know if it was successfully met or not
Nah. The HUD still says Flight Assist off.

I’d love to learn how to fly my spaceships ‘proper’, these videos are a real inspiration! As it stands, my main use for FA-off is if I’m exploring and need to leave the console to go make a cuppa or smoke; I just detach the vanity cam from the ship and set her into a gentle spin with a nice cosmic backdrop for a homemade screensaver...
You are aware that there is always a speed limit also in FA off, yes? Using the scoop just changes the limit. Just as when it is not deployed, you still have the same actual mechanics.
