Sensors can't be sold/removed? Can't change type then?

If you can't target a station how do you dock?

Requesting docking doesn't require you to target the station first.

And yes you can argue that comms need targeting and do it as part of the module, but I'd love the extra slot for something more interesting than radar and do some flying blind.

In fact I'd love to see the fuel tank, sensors and FSD* all be just another internal slot. Would add a lot more configurability to ships.

*yes really. No use just yet but if you implement fighters launching from carriers this would suddenly be very handy

Not sure, but I think it'll be fine, you'll just not be able to fit any other sensors unless they're the right size.
I bet whoever has the lower class sensors fit can keep it so long they don't change it :p
Congratulations! You are now the owner of a very rare clipper :D

So the clipper was the only ship that had an error that would allow you to fit smaller sensor modules than you should be able too. It's been fixed now.

hmmm, why is it not allowed to fit a class 1 sensor module in a class five slot?

I bought a type 6 recently and wanted to fill it to bursting with gold  . I strategically bought the lightest modules in all slots in order to get the most out of the FSD when fully loaded with cargo. I bought a power distributor that, even when at full capacity with four pips, was not able to initiate a drive boost. it is little details like this that give the game depth. So if I want to fly a clipper and make myself effectively blind by fitting a tiny set of sensors, is that not allowed?

p.s. please don't now go and fix the type six power distributors availability :(

I don't know... not being able to jump (Or shutting down life support if you deploy weapons) is one thing. Not being able to dock again would leave you no option but to self destruct once you left the landing platform. That's another level of bad.

Just make all sensor slots class 1m like the auxillary hardpoints. Sorted. Thers no real reason why a sensor array in a bigger ship would need to be bigger, unless a class 5 sensor array can see 50 km instead of 5...

Well, we do have light signals ...

(Red/green, but I'm sure that an aldis lamp could be an easy addition)

More seriously, the sensors include the comms systems. No comms, no docking request, no notice about server going down (?), no rudemessages from NPC s

May be a winner!

Park up in front of the station and flash the lights to let um know your coming :)

The post below in the Shipyard tool thread (which is what post refers to, not game mechanics) suggests that the Clipper was not the only ship this could apply to. I cannot confirm or deny it but thought it could help to mention it.

Please remove the size restrictions on sensors. You can fit undersized sensors onto ships (for example a D1 in an Asp), I do this all the time on trade and exploration ships to get the maximum jump range.

Apparently the bug is still present in 1.05 , I happened upon it and I had a choice of A1 or A3 sensors in my Clipper.

Since there was also a D5, B5 and A5 at the outfitting store, I did a few comparisons : the D5 shows 5km range, while A1, A3 and B5 all show 6km as range, and A5 shows 7km range

I bought the 6km ones; although they all show 6km comparing A1 with B5 shows that B5 actually has better range, and A3 has better range than B5 (better range = blue arrow)

I settled for the A3 ones for the moment - hope I get to keep those, only 5 tons help a little bit with the abysmal jump range on the clipper :D
