Personally, i like how FD are not copying other games. Gives the game a different feel.
Would be horrible if this game just copied elements from other games.

Well i wouldn't mind if they copied some ideas - fun for example could replace mind-numbingly boring. They should not steal ideas but perhaps recognise that actual engaging gameplay could be of benefit.
But you hate the game with a passion and nothing they ever do will make you like any aspect of it. I'm surprised you can donate so much time to something you could so easily ignore.
Can we instead request that Elite be *less* like certain other games?
I'd like Elite to *stop* taking inspiration from: Diablo, Farmville, Candy Crush, Korean MMOs, JRPGs, and Social Media cell phone games. Steer away from that stuff and I'll agree to avoid pointing out games which are doing something *right* and which could be used as inspiration. Deal?

No, no, no. I love aspects of the game. This is why, like a fool, I'm sticking around, hoping that it gets better.
I would mind, I'd rather we gave them the full 10 years + to make their own game their own way with their own character, I don't play elite to give me a fix for another game. I want distinct experiences not a mish mash of generic titles that all do the same thing in the same way.
Well, it seems more and more a design by (forum) commity thing, so unless FD start to stick to their guns a bit more it's not gonna end well.
But yeah, ED has a distinct feel, and I'm not speaking of the pointless time walls, but the gritty feel of the universe (well, less and less with engie ships, since there is no danger anymore)
and roots in realism for the galaxy gen.
Would hate to see it turn in to Elite : Conda Crush(which is very much a thing with any engineered big3 going to a CZ)
People are too used to having their imagination filled for them, that's why.
They can't think original thoughts or create their own fun.
Blame TV, the Internet, Games Consoles and lazy parents.
That's why.
You ask for people not to compare ED to unreleased games, and at the same time you draw the "ED has a long road of development ahead of it"-card.
Which is it then ?
SC hasn't released, because they know they're far from done. Just as ED is far from done ?
Aren't you just cherry picking the best from both scenarios for ED, whichever is the most convenient in the context of the discussion.
Not that you're the first or only one to do that of course, it's rampant around here.
Please excuse me this pre-second cup of coffee rant.
Scrolling through my morning reading today I find not one, not two but THREE posts about how Elite Dangerous needs to be more like another game that the Thread Owner likes SO much. Really? Then GO. Load up that other game you like and play it. For the last two years these forums have seen some awesome posts ranging from How To's to serious debate over the existence of man in the universe at large. We have seen funny posts, screen shot posts (usually ending up as part of my ever growing wallpaper collection, thanks CMDR anikaiful for starting that monstrous thread that STILL isn't a Sticky) and GOODBYE posts. The one group of posts that I usually skip, but still occasionally read, are the whiny Why Can't This Game Be More Like Blah. I don't think I have ever wanted to shout at someone "Shut up and enjoy what you have" as much as when I read these dang things.
Short Answer: Because this isn't that game.
Shorter Answer: Cuz.
No, this game, at present, isn't (big gasp of air) EVE, Star Citizen, No Man's Sky, World of Warcraft (for market place I assume?), Kerbal Space Program, Freelancer, the entire X series, Limit Series, Space Engineers, Freespace 1 or 2, or any of the Star Craft games. And thank the lucky stars it's not. I like the originality of ED.
But I can understand why someone doesn't like it. I can understand why someone wants it to be like another game. I can. Somethings I do not like about ED. Somethings drive me nutso crazy. However, like the gambler who knew he was being swindled said... It's the only game in town. And to these people who constantly are complaining I say this: Go to Kickstarter and make a plea. Create a list of what you want your game to be, detail out what your expectations are and what goodies you will give out for the different levels of donations. Don't worry if you don't know how to code or create things as you can always hire that done with the money you raise. Do these things and get your game made. It worked before, it can work again.
Where did I put my coffee cup?
