Seriously? Broken weapons or just broken Python!?

The size of the shields alone aren't that high actually, but the damage penalty smaller ships suffer make them pretty awesome.

I don’t mean to be picky, but I think the smaller weapons penalty doesn’t apply to shield damage, only to hull.

To OP. It’s sounds like a lot of exaggeration to be honest. The Python is a great ship. As others have said, a D rated power plant is probably an issue. For heat issues you are much better off with A rated, but you don’t have to have a size 7 power plant. You can run a size 6A or even a 5A for a trader outfitting. Can you post your full outfitting on edshipyard or something. I really don’t think there has been a nerf with 1.3 for any ship.
 
It's all sounds like a Learn 2 Play issue.
Yep, those guys in CZ now more dangerous. So you can't just faceroll anacondas like in 1.2.
 
Higher ranked npc-s started to use more different weapons like frag cannons, railguns, pa-s etc. And they can actually hit with them now, instead of just shooting in your general direction. So yes, they deal more damage. You can solve this problem easily, just add more scb-s.
Also never had heat issues on python, at least with A7 powerplant, i can empty capacitor using 3 large beams and use pair of scb-s at the same time without overheating.
And it is funny to read posts about how bad is python in combat from somebody using D-grade modules. Are thrusters D-grade too by any chance?
My Python is A and B only my Power is D...and thrusters are B and its a slug!
 
Last night while hunting in a high res .. took on a dangerous python wing with two dangerous cobras.. only had to use shield banks once..

Current loadout.. reinforced hull.
Rank A everything. Class 6a shields. One class 5b shield.bank and one class 4shield bank .. 3 A rated shield boosters.. three c3 gimb pulse and two c2 multi cannons.

Shuffled my pips only when I needed to turn my ship around mainly 3pips into systems and weapons. Only moved them to thrusters to make turns. Alot of FA OFF maneuvers

Targeted one cobra and.just burned its down. Then went to python and worked on its power plant and then face roolled last cobra. Only got to my last bar on shields once briefly.

No real detail from op so I would assume just lack of exp and possibly just some back luck

OP - do you use pips to balance SYS, ENG and WEP. 4 pips in SYS will make your shields last roughly twice as long as 2 pips.

Yeah, nice, but running 4 pips on sys means just 2 Pips on wep. Recharging the distributor takes awfully long then and OP is in a fight and cannot afford to wait for long recharges.
The only way out of the OPs problem are shield-cells and good piloting.
 
I can't quite imagine having shield issues in a python. Do you have any pips at all to shields? There's a massive difference for each pip in damage absorption, even having one is significantly better than none. I just spent an hour in a CZ (1.4 mil in kills) without ever coming close to losing shields.

Yeah little ships are like flies. Annoying but not a threat. The only time I have shield issues in my Python is if I get in over my head. High intensity RES , wing of a master+ python and 1/2 vultures/drop ships/clippers. I am lucky to be able to supercruise out let alone do any real damage... but that is the way it should be.

I never overheat but then again I only use Class 2 beams. Going to try 2 hammers tonight ;)

don't know how you do it, well, I do actually you fire off cell after cell of scbanks!
