Server downtime - June 27th launch day!

I've booked Mon-Wed, because I'm a Pro like that ;-)

If it does get updated on launch day then Wednesday to Friday would of been a better bet! ;)
The last update seemed to be the smoothest (for some, not all) and once they'd sorted the server wasn't too bad that evening but I'd expect a fair few disconnects and issues which won't be best introduction to new commanders :(

I am confident that there will be a smooth launch day. But then I'm an optimist.

If I had taken the whole week off I think I would have burned my PS out... not to mention my brain.

They usually put a post in the announcement section an hour or so before they shut down the server.

Must say it is a bit of strange planning to take the server offline for (probably) several hours on a console launch day.

All speculation though thus far. Any precedent from the XBox launch? How did that run?

It worked slightly differently in those day as pc and xbox ran on a different bgs so updated separately and ran different versions.

Apart from very minor changes all platforms updates now go live during the same downtime.

The only precedent I can give you is very minor updates can be under an hour but regular ones take around 4 - 6 but have taken longer in the past :(

Not really speculation, they are applying the update on the console launch day, they really would have to. I doubt it's going to be an all day patch however, it's likely to be an hour or two if everything goes smoothly at a point where most of their potential new players are going to be:

(A) at work & so not playing
(B) downloading / installing the game (Disc copies probably won't contain much more than installation files) & so not playing.

The actual server side update won't be too harsh, the download afterwards for the client side update will be however, expect a good while downloading that.

Digital downloads start on 25th (at least here in the UK). If there is an update I have those set to download in the background so I can do the tutorials whilst it's downloading and then apply before launch. I'm still positive.

I'm afraid (unless its changed) you won't even get to the main menu before the server is updated and you have fully downloaded the client update and also created an fdev account :(

Unless fdev are planning on burning the midnight oil and doing the update very early am this could be a messy launch :(

Hence why I'm asking now :)

I think the best thing that can be done is to sit back, relax and enjoy the ride :) There's no such thing as a problem-free launch, so I've no doubt there will be issues that will need solving come launch day. FDev actually have managed fairly well so far, so I'm not that worried, but I'm sure we'll see the forum fill with "is it up yet" and "I can't log on" posts as people try to join the game before the "ok, have at it" message comes from the team ;-)

Cryostasis. I'm going for Cryostasis. It's the only option now.

This may be a red herring but someone posted in a community PS4 group that the US store Ts & Cs shows the game as being playable from 11am EST on the 27th. i.e. 3pm UTC(game time) or 4pm BST.

if true, then the game may / may not be down for most of the morning.

We probably need some clarification from FDev on what they are expecting on PS4 Launch Day in terms of uptime / downtime to deploy the 2.3.10 patch.

That is the normal time the servers tend to come back online (school run time) ;)

It's also the time the Sony EU store updates and slows to a crawl :(

I had my fair share of rocky launch day blues way over due for one that it smooth as silk.
I see no reason for both EU and NA should start at the same time! It may also help with stress on the servers giving EU a few hours head start. I just want what ever works best.
