Greeting Commanders,

If you are currently stuck not being able to launch, please clear your Temporary Internet Files via the following steps.
  1. Ensure your ED launcher is closed
  2. Navigate to Windows Control Panel
  3. Select Network and Internet
  4. Select Internet Options
  5. On the General tab, in the Browsing History section, click Delete...
  6. In the Delete Browsing History window that has opened, ensure the "Temporary Internet Files" is selected
  7. Click Delete
  8. Reopen your ED launcher
This should now require your launcher to regenerate its cache when it opens, allowing you to launch the game.

I performed the above steps along with everything from the old help article on this ancient-yet-apparently-unfixed bug(https://customersupport.frontier.co...ues-and-error-messages-seen-with-the-Launcher) and the launcher still does nothing when I hit Play. I had just come back to Elite a couple weeks ago from a long break but is it telling me something..?

Environment is Windows 10, fairly boring configuration(amd 3900x cpu, nvidia 3080Ti gpu, current drivers etc.) After trying the things that seemed like they 'could' do it with no fix(including the temporary internet files resolution listed above), I regretfully did the 'helplessly flailing' ones as well like uninstalling and reinstalling the Windows .NET components, VC++, and so on. I've run repairs from the launcher(didn't work, incorrect manifest error) and Steam(seemed to reset 'something' as the launcher acted like it was being run for the first time, still no fix after re-entering credetnails) so I went into the launcher settings and tried the old 'uncheck things, restart, re-check things, restart' on the cache items there with no luck. I went into my AppData directories and manually cleared all temp files that disk cleanup hadn't gotten, including wiping out my various Frontier directories which I'm sure will have me reconfiguring all my settings if I can get it to run again. I had just played for weeks without issue and was mining for the community event just last night for hours with no problems.

From what I can see online, this bug has happened since at least 2018.. is there nothing that can be done? It's hard to think of any other game patchers that have had such consistent issues, except maybe when LOTRO kept using the .NET 1.1 framework for so many years after it was deprecated.

Edit: Thinking about it, still using the IE frame embed in 2025 could be giving them a run for their money.

Doesn't really solves the issue. The installation starts but the progress bar is stuck at 0% and the download speed eventually drops to 2-3 Mbts/s, followed by timeout installation cancel.

My bad its timeout. The download cancels itself due to waiting time
