Server online, passenger missions NERFED

Frontier knows that the game has no real meaningful content, so they have to slow the progression of the player to keep them from realizing how little the game offers too soon.

This is why they artificially inflated module prices and why no career path is very financially viable. The bulk of their creative juices flow to the paint shop.

Dont know man. This game has my attention for the longest second place after Skyrim. So they have definitely created something big and not so boring. At least for me

@shustas Well they created a great simulator but not a great game. Elite Dangerous is built like a free to play game/Skinner Box, heavily RNG based busy work. It may have great graphics, great physics and immersion but in my opinion that's not a great game. Frontier is only just now realizing that.

One of the only real sense of accomplishment in this game is to A class your favorite ship, or one of each of the big ships. That is the only real endgame.

The people that constantly state about things being "balanced" or other things being "exploits" are likely the kind of people to jack off with sandpaper.

A video game should not feel like doing taxes. Don't expect people to be happy with chump change when their modules cost 240 million credits per part here, 146 million per part there. These things have an impact on the game whether some people want to see it or not. I bet there would be more people fighting Thargoids if they had reliable ways to make money somewhat comparable to the cost of their modules.

Instead of being asked to risk 2000% of what they stand to make on a Thargoid bounty.

I am at Xi Wangda and passenger missions granted me about 100k per passenger hauled to Donglavs or Hip 4130.

The same missions now require twice the amount of passengers for the same profit, cutting them down to about 50% of what they effectively payed.

When I had to transport 20 passengers for 1.8 to 2 mil I am now asked to transport 40 for the same amount of money.

None of this was stated in the patch files.

I am at 30% Tycoon and will thanks to this need twice the amount of time for Elite.

I'm not trying to be snarky or anything, but like you, I used to be bothered by payout nerfs. Then I started flying small ships again. Never looked back. My Anaconda is decently fitted/engineered for what I do with it. I won't spend 48m on better thrusters. No way. I have 80m in the bank (that took a hit when I fitted my Gunship), 600m in assets, that's more than enough, for me. I get that getting rich is as good a way of playing the game as any other, but if you don't have a goal, I don't see the point.

Passenger missions have been nerfed for a while. Not surprised even more since that's where all the major exploits are.

Exactly!

I checked them the other day in 2.4 just to see what the payouts were these days and they were all total crap compared to the old days.

There were only a handful of the VIP Passenger Transport missions I made Billions from, and they paid a pittance in comparison. Hardly worth bothering with if you ask me.

I would chalk a good portion of this up to those never ending complaint threads you see on here almost daily. From players who can't stand seeing anyone make too much money from doing pretty much anything in the game. These folks are a vocal minority, but they have definitely helped to bring the nerf bat down hard on dozens of previously lucrative activities in ED.

I do feel for those just starting out in the game. A lot tougher road to hoe than a year or so ago.

Ok fine. There are flaws and grind in this game. But Im enjoying this more than Mordor Assasins or Kingdom Come for some reasons. Cant remove the disk from the slot. Am I a sick person lol?

If THATS where their creativity is going, no wonder we don't have content...I mean, racing stripes? Really?

Good old reliable Blackcompany, you hate this game so much. A read back on your forum posts has me in hysterics.

You truly are Black Company the world needs people like you to make us feel better about ourselves.

Plus the six or seven new ones that will be awaiting discovery with the release of a new update, as usual.

On top of that, if you take in the new stuff that has been added for a moment, and apply some logical reasoning, you can actually find some extremely lucrative opportunities all by yourself!
And it's way more satisfying than just browsing the interwebz for some loopholes someone else found that are probably the result of a glitch anyway.

How is this surprising?

FDev in their infinite incompetence is quick to nerf any form of money making with every patch.

So what was 45 mins of non stimulating game play becomes 2 hours of repetitive, mind numbing garbage that sucks all the fun out of the game.

All for what? So it takes you longer to find out that in reality the game is more shallow than a frikking puddle.

DING!!
On the ' NOSE, man.

I've been in since alpha 3 and good GHOD do I miss the alpha gameplay. Combat has been like fighting tugboats since late beta and got so boring I started playing this game while streaming TV/Movies on a browser in the middle of the screen, AND working from home on a another computer at the same time so my mind actually has something to do, because trading and mining are both yes, absolutely mind-numbingly and I mean almost a totally loathsome BORE.

I actually started having a _little_ fun by that with passenger missions by doing A->B transports because the caviar-guzzling sightseer missions are buggy, but now with this patch they've completely hosed that up now too. Yes, I've done some exploring and checked very long-range point to point missions in several systems, my home system still has much better prices for missions 250K - 400k LY travel than other systems with missions in excess of 2 million LY distances.

I left the game for well over 6 months shortly after release due to the frustratingly boring nature of the thing then. It's much worse now. I'll see it in another few months again maybe. I know it really hurts the fanboys deeeep to see me turn my back on it too, but try to get over it ;)
