Server side ninja nerfs.

There seem to have been some other changes. I suddenly get wanted Asps (which I've only seen once before) and Adders (which I've never seen before) in Resource sites.
Sometimes multiple bogies that cover each other (which also seems new).

The lack of communication on the change is the issue. How aren't you getting that?

It should certainly be the issue, though there are folks whingeing about the nerf itself which are muddying the waters of what the thread is about. Certainly the fact that frantic luxury trading did not move supply or demand numbers shows that something was not working properly, though whether that was a bug or a poor design is another issue. Despite the trading simulator they proudly told us about, FD have struggled to get a working economy up and running. But then such things are non trivial to get working in a manner that 'makes sense' and that still provides a means to money for us.

If there has been a nerf (I don't grind at trading so I don't know), then there should certainly have been communication. Interestingly, there was a server-side patch yesterday (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=108735), with a thread started by Michael, and it mentioned no such thing. Which leads me to several potential conclusions:

1) there was no nerf
2) FDs left hand and right hand do not talk to each other, so Michael did not know about the nerf
3) FD do not want to tell us about the nerf
4) The nerf got in by accident, so nobody was expecting it
5) Probably some others ...

Time will tell which is true, I guess.

They pretty much stated their simulation is a black box and offered minimal info on how it works. Basically they can hide any server based tweak/fix behind this without need to explain anything. Calling me a fish (uhuh) won't change that a bit.

Of course they can. they can do whatever they want. If they decide to half the price of the Python while doubling that of the Viper tomorrow, they can all do that.
Its quite the poor customer relation to do so tho.
Besides that, they can also inform us without giving us a peek inside this black box. A simple "Trade supplies replenish at a highly reduced rate" for instance.
That gives us no insight into the black box (which, truth be told, I think they're hiding because there isn't much going on in there but thats besides the point) but gives a clear indication that they changed stuff *and* they're actually bothering to communicate instead of treating us like mushrooms (kept in the dark and fed a diet of horse manure).

I'm starting to think they dived into this project without ever stopping to ask if they're actually able for it. Have frontier ever made an online game before? Do they have experience with persistent universes, dynamic, player-driven events and economies? Do they have the framework and experience to deal with the community aspect of it all?

Of course they had it all worked out. <Insert Name Here> Tycoon + '84 Elite + P2P Networking = Win! ;)

...and they're not just blowing smoke up our bums.

Eww :(
