settlements data point scanning it's impossible bad

The process of obtaining data from settlements is so bad that I just can not play any more, and I have to get out of the game having an annoyance.
Poor lighting on all planets - I have bad sight. There is no normal map - i don`t know where i need go. There is no normal mode of movement, and I have to quickly scan points. It's not interesting, not convenient, for 4 years of the game I have never been able to get even one micro program, from the database of settlements. And that is very bad - there are no alternative ways to get, for example - hacked industrial firmware.

I suggest making the process of obtaining various programs easier:
1. Add map of sattlement after local scaning, that would put the points where you can scan the data.
2. Add atmosphere to the planets for good daylight.
3. Add an alternative way to get firmware, without the need to ride around the settlements. For example - rare USS.

Thank you for attention.
Best regards , Evgeniy.

If things are too dark (which ATM they rarely are, for me anyway) turn your gamma up.

As for a map, there is a resource online which shows a top down view of all known base layouts. I can't find the link, but some goggling will find it.
We do need something in game though.

I'd be happy if I could just target the data nodes from a decent distance, so I know where too look.

You can also use the camera to get a good view, but it's range is limited.

Data can sometimes be gathered from missions as rewards.

Hope that helps!

ED Pathfinder is the program Comic refers to. It does contain a map of most settlements, and it's also amazing at finding those that can be done single-handedly. Without it, I would've never been able to not quit the game when it came to gathering cracked Industrial firmware... Since there are only 4-5 different settlement layouts, you end up knowing where to go from memory with enough practice anyway. I do feel your pain thought... We shouldn't need a 3rd-party tool just for that.

But yeah, planet graphics... They're supposed to boost that in first quarter of 2018. So expect to get a better experience precisely, and not before, the 31st of March.

CIF can be obtained from fallen satellites (got one today), and from planetary scan missions (got 3 a week ago in Maia). Bases on planets change lighting depending on rotation, some are tidally locked to the light.
