Shadows Setting - Problem FPS Drop fix

So ever since launch i had this problem with random FPS drops down to 1, been trying to figure out what the problem is and narrowed it down to the Shadows Setting, i had it at Medium just like in the beta and had these huge FPS drops randomly and frequently sometimes every 5 to 10 seconds. Now I tried every setting, on settings Lowest, Low, Medium and High you get FPS Drops on Off and Very High you get no FPS Drops at all on Very High only a slight drop when the time of day arrives when shadows go away but its so short you hardly notice it. I think they really need to optimize the shadows settings as it makes no sense at this moment. So if you have fps drops try this out.
 
Well historically shadows are one of the largest impacts to framerate. That said your findings are rather odd and the effect of shadows should be pretty consistent overall, not causing random spikes. Random spikes are usually caused by streaming assets causing a temporary bottleneck.

Exactly, its badly optimized for some weird reason. Hopefully they can get it fixed and optimized because i hate running it on Very High or off but on Medium it becomes a resource hog. It looks like it has to calculate too much and too often to decide which shadow to display and which not on medium setting
 
Also when you load your save game and get these fps spikes again just set shadows to off apply and back out of the menu back to the game, then change it back to very high and apply again and back to the game this for some reason fixes it for a moment.

There seem to be more related to the drop to 1 FPS spikes been emailing with frontier so hopefully the team can figure out what exactly is going on here. Surely this should be possible to be fixex, never had this problem in planet coaster btw.
