She's a beauty! (New ship revealed--Mandalay)

Yep, only exceptions on the medium ships I can think of are the FdL and Mamba which have 6 don’t they? They’re very specialised ships too.

Edit: I think the 2 Pythons have 6 too?

I disagree, most players have no interest in large bulky ships.

Inara data disagrees with you, and given that 2 of the large ships are locked behind Rank progression, it's fair to assume that they could be higher if not for that.

The exact flight characteristics. Speed, overall flight performance, the above mentioned jump range, thermal handling, shields/hull durability... those are the ones I can think of, anyway.

...and in there will be "why Fdevs, why??!!"

My guess is mediocre speed as the main handicap. But overheating and being fragile... she surely won't shine there. We'll have to pay the price for the perfect Core and Optional slots.

If I'm reading this correctly, that's less than 40% listing large ships as their main. A lot of players probably feel obligated to select a large ship as their main to display it as an achievement or a trophy. I'm currently grinding for a federal corvette, I'll likely display it as my main.

How does inara determine which ship is a cmdr's main?

Edit: Nvm, just saw you can set a ship as your main in the edit page.

Keelback for me, that's the ship I've spent the most time in. At least until I get the T8 😁

I haven't found any large ship compelling enough to get (except for the T7). There has to be some unique gameplay involved for me to get really interested.

...but you said that ALL Players want... (oops, actually it wasn't you, sorry!)

I don't want big, bulky ships either, so you have been disagreed with again!

Even your chart disagrees with you, else there would be no ships other than large displayed, surely?

Large ships have their place in specific roles. The Cutter simply hauls the most cargo per hour. As long as a large pad is available, that makes it the go to ship. The Corvette has outstanding defenses and can throw a fighter into the fray, which makes it the best bounty hunting ship for asymmetric combat against multiple ships at once. The Anaconda with the huge amount of internals and broken jump range makes it the best search&rescue ship. The T10 is the perfect miner with it's internals and amount of hardpoints. The Beluga carries the most luxury passengers. I will not speak of the remaining large ships, because they have no right to be large ships, and the T9 is pretty much redundant.

.....and the T9 is pretty much redundant.

If it was up to me, I'd give the T9 another boost in cargo capacity.
Give it (at least) another size 8 slot, so it can haul ~1000t of cargo, and people might consider flying it.
With the new updates to PP that might even create a bit of new gameplay, with wings of players flying a couple of T9s and a couple of escort ships to get stuff done efficiently instead of everybody just flying their Cutters.
