She's a beauty! (New ship revealed--Mandalay)

I'm still intrigued about the landing pad issue.
Thinking either, it was all sorted from the beginning. Or, ship designed and complete then someone pointed out the glaring issue.

Didn't the T8 have problems with the SRV and cargo hatch ?

Usually concept arts have more freedom, but when you are coming to design, things like dimensions are important, so at this moment you need to find a solution for the wings. But in Elite Dangerous foldable wings are pretty usual, so, there is no need to conern. We can only try to predict how it will look exactly, because Zorgno Peterson Adder and T-10 both have foldable wings, but working different ways.

Well, it either has folding wings, which might not happen since the only thing they showed as folding is the engines
Or it's small enough to fit on the pad, invalidating the premise of "identical cockpit glass" to Mamba.

Even it it has the Mamba cockpit, it doesnt necessarily mean the size is identical.

Re-T8. On planetary bodies yes, too low slung. That is an easy fix.. eagle had identical issue and was dealt with before release of horizons.
But the new mandy is way too wide for the medium pad currently. And no one can see where the wings fold. But, they must do ?

They might not fold, they could retract like the T8s nacelles, sweep back like a Tornado or the whole upper portion of the ship might swivel round the boxy section holding the gear and hatches.

We haven't seen obvious hinges etc but that doesn't mean the Mandalay hasn't taken a leaf out of the Anaconda's book of tricks but this time instead of the ultralight version of unobtanium it is using the liquid metal version used in the later model terminators.

I suspect it will have a different cockpit. I'm not sure what purpose the wireframe Mamba would have on a Mandalay.

Did some digging for ships dimensions. Found info about landing pads dimensions on https://elite-dangerous.co.uk/ , and If that's correct, then mediums sized ship need to fit into 150x90x24 m (with deployed landing gear). Attached blueprints are for Mamba and Krait Phantom, so you can see that there is quite big enough width reserve for Mandalay fit into medium landing pad without need to do anything with its wings.

Edit: measuring comparison for Krait Phantom and landing pad size say that width maximum dimension for medium pad could be around 85 m.

Edit2:

I wonder if it's not as tall as the Type 7

That was the explanation as to why the T7 has to use a large pad
