Shield Cell Bank - Overheating

I'm sure someone has asked this before, but I'm having issues with Shield Cell Banks and don't know how to rectify it.

I currently have three SCBs on my new Anaconda.....three B5's I believe.

When I took her out for my first test run, I hit the button to use the SCB and the heat went through the roof....like to 350% and things were breaking all over the place.

Is there a requirement to launch a heat sink or something before using the SCBs? Or do your shields have to be down to 1 ring or something before using?

Is there a way to use them safely without this happening?

I'd hate to be in a bad situation, hit that button and have my ship in even worse shape than before.

Any help appreciated.

I think you're firing all three SCBs at once. Try turning off a couple of them in right side panel, or binding them to different fire groups instead of tha "fire SCB" button.

That said, many do bind heat sink launcer to same button as a SCB, to alleviate the heat generation problem.

firing more then one heatsink (and the button does this) isn't recommended.

also, check out fewer, but bigger scb - a 6A has the same number of recharges, more MJ per load, and more capacity than your class 5.

and yes, bring a heatsink, especially if you run thermal weapons, beams for exampel....

If you're chaining SCBs then you need to fire a heat sink. On my Vette, I fire a single sink before the 7B/6B chain and there are no heat issues. On the FDL, I fire a single sink before a 4B/4B/2B chain. Test turning off some and see what the threshold is on your ship.

SCB went through some major changes and you will need a heat sink when using a class 5 SCB or better for most ships. Have you tried building your ship configuration in http://coriolis.io/?
I find it very helpful for figuring out what combination of heat sinks will work well with my shields.

don't use the SCB all at once. Launch 1 with a heat sink, wait a couple seconds, then launch a second one while the first is still going off. That way you can get extra SCB per heat sink and can mitigate the huge heat spike that occurs just after you use an SCB. On the anaconda, you might want to try using a class 6 with another class 6, or using a class 6 with a class 5. You can always use more heat sinks at once if you want to get more recharge, but chain firing SCB will help you conserve heat sinks.

Yeah, this is how they "balanced" them. Gimped them out of usefulness. Just stack hull reinforcement and run some shield boosters. Don't stress to much if your shields drop because the poor        s still have their work cut out for them to crack through the hull...

I fire off a heatsink before the SCB. This will drop the temp of the ship to a point where the SCB will not effect the ship systems.

People used to whine about SCB stacking. Funny thing about that is that SCB stacking still exists on large ships that have utility slots to spare. You can easily load up a Corvette or Conda with SCBs to the point where you are not going to be destroyed until you have exhausted your 8-12 SCB charges.

Going to assume you are a PVE player due to your lack of SCB/Heatsink knowledge.

Here is a multirole strong conda build, you can even trade in this and no one is going to be able to pirate you.

Set your SCB and Heatsinks to dedicated keys, not firegroups.

Pop 2 heatsinks at the same time you use a SCB and you will be fine. This will take you from 1 ring to full shields.
Your last SCB will only have a single heatsink to cool it, so you will slightly cook but if you are down to your last SCB use you should be already using the Braben freedom drive to escape.

This is the simplest setup without having to worry about SCB on separate fire groups and firing them in sequence.
