Shield concerns from a day 1 player

I'm really bad at combat, my FDL gets me through a lot and my huge PA is great but hitting small ships is a chore.

Basically I'm the guy with lots of game time, I can afford and have had an Anaconda but I didn't like it so now I just keep my Asp and FDL because those are my favorites, but I'm going to get mashed by every Viper by the sounds of it. If the game gets that unplayable I might have to rage quit.

It's humiliating enough to have to run away fairly often as it is. I'm actually a bit worried by this thread...
PS I don't actually get killed, I do run away before that and my engineered thrusters make my ship quite quick when boosting

If you were a day 1 player, then you played perfectly well before Engineers and engineered shields existed. It was not an issue then, so why is it an issue now, when even nerfed they will be better than vanilla shields?

This smacks more of people getting used to there minimal effort required buffs and now being upset that they have to actually fly and fight again.

I like the engineers and there modifications, but I would roll back there effects by 50%-75% across the board, making then a nice to have, not a must have.

I thought this too at 1st glance.

Then someone I asked whos in the know re this explained very well what's going on.

I was left with thinking that my Battleconda if fitted with resistance oriented defense instead of mere boosters will be even tougher?

I don't know if that's true, but it's what I perceived was said.
