I don't know about you, but I would be far more inclined to buy ship body part cosmetics if they were sold individually, maybe for ~1000-2000 Arx each(I haven't done any calculations about the number of parts in each pack and how much each would cost, this is just my explanation). Right now, I really want to get certain ship pieces for at least 4 of my ships, but frankly, I dont want to fork up money for a 13000 arx pack that I will only use 4 of the items within it. I think many people are in the same boat as me and I think if the packs were split into their components, more people would buy them. What do you think?

But that's exactly what FDEVs (and any other microtransaction oriented dev) wants. It's basic MC 101. You pick a piece of something everyone wants, add bunch of biowaste and redundant things, make it a pack and sell for exorbitant price. It's not the case of selling highly desired stuff for lower but selling uninteresting stuff for more.
You know you want it, right? It's right there, in the shop. Just add to the cart and finalize. It's worth it. Totally worth it. It's the only way to have it. Costly? No. no, no no. It's JUST one time purchase. This time you can allow yourself. So say, how will it be, hmm...?
Imagine if ship kits were customizable as Lego's with ship kit pieces? They only cracked the door on what we have now. They could and still can make that a thing. Seems frontier is opposed to making money and even more resistant to player enjoyment?
I feel like you're missing the point. I AM willing to pay money for arx, but not for extra cosmetic items i will never use because I am forced to buy them in a bulk pack.
They did this with paint packs when they launched ARX. A lot of paints were sold in packs so if you wanted only one you had to buy all 6 to get the one you wanted.
Now you can buy all paints individually, I see no reason why they couldn't do this for ship kits...I reckon they'd make more money, like the OP I'm not spending money on a ship kit when I only want 2 items from it but I would buy those two items if they were available to buy individually.
I don't think FD have really understood the power of microtransactions and they could monetize the cosmetics in ED to a much greater extent without making a huge amount of effort.

I'd love this - all I want from the mamba pack is the engine bit and sod saving up the ARX or spending money on just that.
