Ship ID not applicable?

I have both name plates and ship ID plates purchased because you know I have nothing better to spend my money on. However for some reason every time I try and input a ship ID the confirm button remains red and I cannot accept an ID change. What gives?

What is the ID you're trying to use? We have no info... Are you using accepted characters?

I had issues putting mine in, because I was using a dash "-", I used a 5-character code and it accepted it no problem.

The default had a "-" in the middle, but I couldn't get it to work when I made my own.

All my ships have the ship ID of: "-GUY-"

I've had no issues using the dash. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's limited to a maximum of 5 characters instead of 6.
You can use 5 or less characters, including dashes and various others (I've a "#" in mine), but not 6.

Hopefully this will be addressed one way or another in the next update.

That dash is fine, for some reason as stated above, while it's says the ID can be 6 long it can actually only be 5. Guessing this is a bug that will be fixed in the future 🙂

Types of character, case sensitivity etc - no difference. 5 rather than the stated 6 chars? BINGO!

5 char for ship ID ?? huh??? I see a number 6 at the end of the text box and I can spell ZOINKS on all 12 of my fleet. I'm mobile atm, so I can't post pix.

Perhaps a dash counts as two, or one and a half characters. Anyone tried all dashes? If that's true, then you should only be able to do four.

Tried it myself with different combinations, anything I try allows 6 in the input area. Now, I haven't bought an ID plate, maybe that triggers some restrictions that aren't there without?

PC, and I was able to punch in that ID fine. If you're on XB, then that's got to be what's happening. And if so, maybe it's a bug in conversion of the game over to it? I can't think of any reason why there'd be a limit difference.
