"Ship kit? Lets get a Python!" he said...

So the raider kit for the Python arrived. Cool! I have no Python. Bummer. I figure a use for one, grab a Python+modules at SD and head out for mods. Grab the FSD at Deciat, then some rapid fire MCs. The day's been uneventful (early weekend, but many still at work I guess :p), and as I am sitting on the pad I plot the next route to Kuk for some armor mods. At this point I have only a 6C-biweave, no boosters, no HRP, no drive mods. Just another reminder to myself to stay alert. :p

How on earth did you get such a crazy FOV?

C:\Users\#username\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics\settings.ini
Change FOV=xxx

It takes some getting used to, but all cockpits become way more unique. Normally you just see the HUD, which is always the same, and the different bridges are obscured without VR.

FOV slider, single best thing i ever changed. Finally felt like someone in a cockpit, not a camera glued to a windshield.

Agree but the ingame slider doesn't go as far out as Sleutelbos has done it by editing the game file.
To bad we can't do that on Xbox.

I'd be fine with the super wide field of view if it didn't distort everything on either side of the screen. It's like viewing the world via the reflection on a spoon. (Exaggeration). I like keeping a narrow field of view and using head tracking.

Ah yeah the console curse, it is a shame. FD really need to make proper in game FOV and UI colour support.

The difference between the ASP X for example with standard and modded FoV is like night and day.

That's cool, I need to change mine, I feel like I'm glued to the window. Lol

What number did you use?

Typical Cutter pilots. :D
Glad you escaped, easily, I might add. :)

Apart from nothing, I do wonder what goes through these pilots heads when they decide to shoot a random stranger... :p

I had an Anaconda do the same to my shiny new C rated Python back in the day. I escaped with 6% hull because I didn't even know I could high wake at the time. :D
Was I that good at flying? Or was the murder hobos just that bad? We'll never know.

I'm at 84, but that is very high so you might want to start with something like 78 first. It takes some time to get used to the fisheye.

And yes, the escape itself was fairly easy. I even had SCB which I didnt need. Its part of the reason I posted it: from the perspective of the attacker I am pretty much unmodded. With 4pips to system plus SCB I could have easily lasted quite a bit longer. While murder-hobos in tooled-up cutters are near-impossible to kill with PvE ships, with some attention you will be very hard to kill too. :D

Hehe, another Day for Pad-hugging Gankers, capitalizing on the fact that ENG Bases don't react to Criminal acts under some circumstances.

Only a what... a 1 year old Exploit/Hack? And still unfixed.

I didn't move my FOV slider and that's what I see normally.

Not much of a hack, but its a bit lame. Since this vid had the same happen at three more bases. Always imp ships btw, not sure what they find so appealing about them. Ah well, the sun is back for a brief reprise, so hitting the pool in 15min. Griefers have to wait a bit I am afraid. Maybe a liter of sangria will even the odds. :p

I really hope they fix the Engineer base defences soon™, but don't tell anyone. :D

Oooh the salt... :D

I assume these Cutter flying weasels are over compensating for something. :p
