Ship Kits Blocking Hardpoints

This bug has been around since the launch of Odyssey, effectively making some of the paid-for ship kits pay-to-lose to use.

My original reported issue expired, and the only other one on this I could find was marked as a duplicate of an issue that while had to do with ship kits, was not the same issue. That issue only mentions that the ship kits block taking damage, but doesn't mention that they also block weapons from shooting.

If people can help get this visibility by voting on it.

And FDev please don't mark it as duplicate like the other one. This issue is about them preventing the ship kit owner from firing weapons, the other is preventing others from damaging the ship kit owner. Both valid, but nonetheless separate issues.

Personally, I'd write to Support & ask for my money to be returned, if your paid for Ship kit is causing an issue....as it's not fit for purpose, it's faulty.
Sadly that's the only way to get Frontier to recognise that there's an issue here, but provide plenty of screenshot/video evidence to support your claim.

Though me, I don't buy cosmetics from the Store anymore, not since earning free ARX became a thing & even then I'v only bought two Carrier kits with my free ARX.

Also, more proof of how this System of reporting bugs & issues is not fit for purpose either & the old System was a much better way of getting issues resolved.
IMO this current method only puts off player's reporting things & then actually limits how many issues, those who can be bothered to pursue the process, can be 'voted' for.

The whole Issue System needs a complete re-design Frontier, it might be OK for Frontier Staff, but it's frustrating & very time consuming for players, trying to enjoy the game.

You might be glad to know that this issue (which has been reported a number of times indeed) has been included in the "visibility thread", where various issues are being flagged so that they become visible to most and can be upvoted. (Credit to @Maolagin and @Agony_Aunt )

With regards to a refund, if I understood the T's & C's of the ARX, I believe that in your case FD would not return you the money, but would instead refund you the ARX spent to buy the ship kits.

Yes, visible to everybody but FDev apparently. That thread still doesn't have a single dev post.

Doesn't matter, doesn't need a dev post. Important thing is the issues get confirmed. Once confirmed they can't just automatically vanish after 30 days.
It's almost like you don't believe the little disclaimer of expired issues. Have faith!

It may be that this issue has already been reported by other players, or has been fixed during a recent update.

As AA says - the important thing is under the spoiler tab…issue reports safe from expiry.

I’ve been maintaining a VR version of the bug thread since May last year, and all I care about are the dozen or so current Acknowledged reports and everything under the “Closed” spoiler tab 👍

(…and if anyone fancies dropping some Confirmations on the extant reports, here’s the link:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/odyssey-vr-specific-bug-reports-please-contribute.575557/ 😁)

Edit: as for the little disclaimer in your post above - it doesn’t happen often, but it does (very) occasionally happen 😅

well I bought them in 2018, so may be too long since, there are some other bumpers I have with issues too. one of the Corvette bumpers prevent gimbals on the two sidemount hardpoints from aiming in as far towards center in their arc as a stock Corvette, and two of the FDL bumpers block parts of the arcs on gimbals on a pair of hardloints. T10 is just easiest example since it blocks fixed weapons entirely as well as a significant portion including straight forward fire on gimbals.

Hello.
This issue still persist.
With the new hazard ship kits, the bumper kit for Krait MK2 can now block gimballed (and I assume turreted too) weapons from firing.
It is especially jarring when you look at it from this perspective, the hardpoint is almost completely denied sightline to any target at a lower angle.

Just FDev continuing to pioneer the Pay-to-Lose game industry.

First was the Arx bought special suits not having flashlights
Now it's ship kits blocking weapons from being used.

And yep the Type-10's is still broken as well, I tested it the other day, still cannot fire fixed weapons on the two more inner of the top hardpoints.

That's hilarious in an awful way... seems like a consequence of adding collision for the camera suite and Odyssey players, and I believe I saw that this also adds to your actual hitbox as well. I hope they can keep collision for the camera & Odyssey avatars and lose the collision for projectiles fired by the ship. Can't wait to see the fix for this and how many new bugs it adds.

Silly thing is they've been fixing this on a 1 by 1 basis, by doing exactly that for ship kits on certain ships.
But it's like just disable it on all of them already jfc.

The truly face palm part of this is that those are 100% in their power not to do to themselves but they do it anyway. Its not some rare interaction between dozens of variables. Its simply pitting them on an actual ship and making sure it doesn’t cause issues with PDs, weapons and launchers. That’s just sad.

the Krait MK2 Hazard bumper kit no longer blocks hardpoint from firing.
Now they can shoot through the kit. Not the most elegant solution, but at least it works.
