Ship lights

I agree. Yet oncoming ship lights can obscure a planet from view from a massive distance away . Then you get 3 or 4 oncoming ships and i'm a deer in the headlights

Yes please.

Night time canyon racing in an iCourier at 650m/s is basically entirely guess work and suicide.
It's headlights shine about 6ft.
While the Python's headlights can light up distant galaxies.

Headlights should be a core module we can upgrade and modify (and colour!).

I wish that ships lights could be much brighter. Even my car does shine brighter...:D

Let's put this into perspective using actual data :)

Car lights full beam 100m

Python - 1000m

Other ships in the game - 800m

SRV - 300m (Full Beam)

With all that being said, the devs have stated they are reluctant to increase in game ship light range even further due to a large performance hit. Hopefully that will change in Q4 when the improved lighting engine rolls out.

I'd like to see some retractable stadium size landing lights on the bigger ships.

Those aren't ship lights they are just the supercruise things, yours will be the same as well whether you have your lights on or not.

Oh cool, i always thought their "lights" were like 1000000m lumen solar flares fitted for blinding large animals and unsuspecting cmndrs. Thanks for the tip [up]

This was discussed elsewhere in another thread but I agree that ship lights could be improved upon. There should either be 'landing lights' separate from 'running lights' and that landing lights should be be controllable to a small extent. I haven't done much dark SRV driving or any races but it's frightening just to think of missing seeing a Clift. So yes so bright light option might help.
