Imperial Courier - Divine Intervention
Imperial Clipper - Andromeda Ascendant
Asp - Rusty Brick
and my soon to be had Cutter will be called "Raza"

Python: SS Norholm. The name of my grandfathers merchant ship in WW2.

Viper: Ranger 1. Like the one in Interstellar.

But for the moment, as i mentioned in another thread, ill probably go with GCV A Slight Case of Overbombing - which will probably be my Asp.

I'm also partial to a Vuper called ROU A Pox on Both Your Houses

If we are talking just canon names, Just Read the Instructions is a favourite.

All the ships in Elite are far too small for mainline Culture vessels, by several kilometres so calling an Asp a GCU is stretching things a bit. Also Culture ships are piloted by super-intelligent Minds, as opposed to barely concious meatsacks.

I doubt we'll ever see ship naming in the game purely because it'd almost impossible for FD to censor the names in every language the user base is likely to use (including phonetic Klingon).

Having said that, I do like the general whimsical nature of the ship names in the Culture.

Don't forget that they had a track called "Anaconda" all those years ago.

My ship names are all in Welsh apart from one.
The Asp that got me home safely after 100,000ly got renamed from "Blue Dragon" to "Faith Manages".

My Anaconda is " Y Cawr Aur", The Gold Giant
My Python is "Y Ddraig Las", The Blue Dragon
My Clipper is "Y Brenhines Wyn", The White Queen
My Courier is "Y Dywysoges Wyn", The White Princess
My Vulture is " Y Tarw CI", The Bull Dog

You get the idea.
