Ship Outfitting is crazy hard !! very disappointed !

OMG guys who designed that I thought you would have at least run a alfa or a in-depth beta to fix this, my kids and I will come back when you are ready for launch , crazy , so disappointed, 30 min to try and find right modules for each ship, come on guys really

Just to inform you: they ran an alpha, which was even paid for by the testers, and the testers did their job and told them that it has massive problems. They just ignored it, and proceeded to launch it anyway, with all the problems in it. So there is nothing you can come back to, really. ATM, you've generously got the possibility to switch back to the old client to enjoy the better UI/UX there for a limited time. After that time (console launch), you will just have to deal with it. Or play something else.

I do agree that changing the outfitting system would have an adoption curve no matter what they did. However, I also agree with most posters that the logic tree and for this UI was a step backwards. For example, the "store" or "sell" shouldn't be a slider in smaller text on the bottom. It should be imbedded into the buy option or be a pop up after you select purchase. Also the yellow highlighted modules are confusing mixed in with modules available to purchase. It would be more intuitive if modules were highlighted that matched the slot size and have a separate column for similarly equipped modules and call them "equipped" or something.

I think its more than just change management for existing players. I think this is terribly confusing for new players.

When you remove features that are vital to use it i.e. which special effect is on your engineered module that is stored in your garage (meaning you can't possibly know which one of your 5 multicannons is the one with extra ammo and corrosive on it till you've transported all 5 to your location and fitted them one by one) then yes.. that's broken. Btw that's just one example. I have 17 more should anyone be bothered to hear them!

There is no way the designer of the outfitting UI has ever played Elite Dangerous

Yeap,
Whoever designed the outfitting UI should be forced to fully equip 20 Anacondas with engineered modules from module storage.
Then to change the outfitting by swapping shield boosters with different engineering and weapons with the same engineering but different experimentals

Edit and i forgot - they should also be careful not to sell any engineered module by mistake...

I just realized that I am terrified of changing my modules on my ships. I have tinkered a little with a courier for ground ops but that experience made me not want to mess with my other ships. Mentally I think I just said to my self, "yup, that Python is a miner forever now."

I'm scared everytime I use the UI now. I don't want to lose another G5 item.

Yep, i changed 3 modules on my bubble taxi - which became my EDO taxi - and that was by far the most frustrating experience in EDO.
And even the change did not implied any engineered modules, i was still stressed out trying not to sell-by-mistake my FSD booster or my Fuel Scoop in the process

A lot of us are just swapping back to Horizons for outfitting, it's faster even with the log out/in and MUCH safer.
Have done this myself. It's absurd how badly they screwed this thing up, and says a lot that this is option everyone's choosing to work around it.

I am a designer for a aeronautics company in the UK I have been playing Elite for many years, but this patch has to be the worst design for ship outfitting I have ever seen, you look at your slot see what grade and spec it is, then you have to back out go to a second tab, tab in look for a the correct module unable to see what engineering it is as you have to tab across to find that if it shows up at all, then you have only one choice sell item replaced not store but sell, so you have to replace modules first to a E module then you have to replace it, OMG guys who designed that I thought you would have at least run a alfa or a in-depth beta to fix this, my kids and I will come back when you are ready for launch , crazy , so disappointed, 30 min to try and find right modules for each ship, come on guys really
I 100% agree, outfitting in Horizon was much better and easier. With Odyssey you have to back out from Load Out to use or check what is in your storage. There is no option in Load Out to use modules from storage, you can only browser store and there is special section just for Store. Which doesn't make sense.

Sorry, what did you say ?
Oh yeah, also sold a G5 gun because the UI default to "sell old module" and sometimes get back to it even though you select "store". And there is no confirmation, and no buyback when the new module is from storage.
lol ya the one thing that doesnt have a confirmation button in EDO.... go figure!
