Horizons Ship Scan Detected

Since a few days I am getting now scanned every time I dock in my 'home' station, even though I am an ally. I never got scanned as an ally before. Must be something new.

Time to get back into the black.;)

this is normal and has been going on since before 2.1. I'm allied with all the factions in several stations and will always get scanned right before entering the mail slot.

Interesting. This might be normal for you, but it is not for me. I am at Drake Station/Yaroklis and since I am allied (3 month) I never got scanned, until ... I think it was the day before yesterday. Now I get scanned every time.

Actually what I have noticed thats changed is being scanned upon LEAVING a station. Due to the low speeds and often being scanned INSIDE the station, I have found going undetected for passenger/cargo missions now almost impossible.

Has a different minor faction taken control of the station, perhaps one you are not allied to? At my 'home' station, I am very rarely scanned entering or leaving. Not never, but it's exceptionally rare, and that has not changed recently.

I don't believe that you can be scanned (by NPCs) inside the station, as they lose line of sight which breaks the scan. As for getting into, or out of a station undetected, you generally need to use silent running and speed to achieve this. Just don't hit anything or you will get a fine, and possibly a bounty if the ship you hit explodes. You will also damage your own ship as silent running deactivates shields.

No faction has changed. It actually says "An ally like you is always welcome here". I am getting scanned coming in and going out. Always. I just wanted to mention this. I read somewhere, here in the forum I think, that an ally does not get scanned. Until a few days ago I thought so too. Looks like this is not the case (anymore?!). It does not matter to me because I am not taking any Secretive/Wanted passenger with me anyways. Just Businessmen, Tourists and Medical.;)

Dude... I know EXACTLY what you mean! I'm experiencing the exact same thing. Guidoni Hub in the Mari System is my home base. It's an allied system, lean and green, where I've never been scanned prior to the patch since I had reached allied status with Mari Inc. Since the latest patch I'm getting scanned EVERY SINGLE TIME I enter my home base. Google said "Trololol, use Silent Running lol" Yeah... right. It does NOT work. I switched off EVERYTHING that wasn't involved in the process of landing the ASP on the landing pad. FSD, shields, cargo hatch, scanners, fuel scoop... I even switched the damn life support off AND... I used Silent Running on top of that. No chance... "Scan detected". Every. Singe. Time. Even when sneaking up behind a station.
Of course, I found it out the hard way, bringing scientists to a POI 6.000ly away. I accepted the mission in Mari. The scientists were a secretive bunch, so they were a little , when I was scanned by a FSA. I said to myself "Oh well, that wasn't neccesary, but it's no big deal." So I made the trip, a whopping 12.000ly in total, 25 million credits on the line, requested docking at Guidoni Hub and shortly before entering the mail slot, it said... yes... "Scan detected". And that was enough for the scientists! The mission FAILED seconds before landing safe and sound. The money, of course... GONE! Because of TWO scans that shouldn't even have happened in the first place.

So, two separate things went horribly wrong here:
1. Ship scans all of a sudden happen with the precision and regularity of Swiss watch second hands.
2. Secretive passengers are way to merciless, failing a mission on TWO scans.

Frontier, please take that seriously, this is game breaking.

Uhm, yeah... latest example, 2 minutes old: exited station with a secretive scientist, was scanned on my way out of the system - MISSION FAILED!

WHAT. THE. HELL. FRONTIER?

Do they fail as soon as you get "scan detected', or after a scan has completed?

I was scanned with a criminal mastermind on return to the base .... 'scan detected' .... so I immediately changed direction and boosted away ...boosted again to stop a complete scan. Even though it took me away from the slot.

Failed my second approach and had to boost away, also for this. Third time lucky.

So long as you can boost fast enough and get away to try a fresh approach, you should be ok. It's if the scan completes that the problems arise, as far as I am aware.

My criminal mastermind complained, but he still paid up.But is this consistent for all missions? I don't know.

You need to boost out of trouble .... best solution and keeps you in control .... boost straight ahead of you, and do it twice to be sure.

I always boost as soon as I exit the mail slot. And I also double-boost on my way to the jump target to shorten the mass-lock effect. But being scanned on my way out of the system is besides the point. The point is, that the regularity of ship scans has grown exponentially, in an allied system, where scans happened in maybe 1 out of 15 times. Just for s and giggles, I took off and landed on Guidoni Hub four times in a row and I was scanned every single time before landing. That can't be right!

This seems to happen at every dock. I have docked at at least 15 docks in different systems and get "ship scan detected" going in to every dock and same message leaving all but one dock. This is a tad annoying

was there ever a time when the system didn't scan every time you enter or leave a station? I have always been scanned every time I enter a system and approach the station and when I leave. they chase me down and force scan me if I don't boost out even then I can see them chasing behind me trying to scan until I reach cruise distance. coming in to the station I always get scanned just as I'm coming to the slot, there is no avoidance. I don't take any mission that says scanning is bad, passenger missions, smuggling missions, or just smuggling at all. I have started figuring out how to use the silent running thing but still. I always wondered why every system treats me like a wanted criminal even if I'm allied and not doing any activity that would make me wanted in that system. Its downright obnoxious.
The other thing I always wonder about is what are they looking for when they scan me, the npc always tells me I have nothing they want , I dont? are these systems security, my allies in most cases or pirates? seems like system security should have better dialogue and my reputation with a faction should have some impact on their disposition but it never matters. When do my allies start treating me like an ally instead of a criminal? I've considered just foregoing the whole allied with any of them thing and being a full on pirate and shoot everyone I see since somehow everything I do seems to be illegal in some fashion. Just the other day I got a 100cr fine for bumping a ship in my explorer ship and got shot out by system security when I returned to sol. why a 100cr fine was worth 500,000 cr rebuy is beyond me but that is what it was.

Not sure why this thread has been resurrected. Scanning has always been normal. That's why there are threads (probably ancient ones) on here giving advice about how best to avoid scanning if you need to sneak in or out unnoticed. Getting scanned is the default.

It seems to me that the sales of Krait Mk II went down[*] and Falcon DeLacey did some bribery...
