Newcomer / Intro Ship Stats Question

Okay; so I bought a T10 last night for cargo, mining, misc stuff that it should be more suited for than rebuilding my anaconda for.

But I'm quite confused on the stats.

They both have 7A shield generators and comparable starting shields (350vs320). Using the same number of Class-A shield boosters the Anaconda's shields come out at 1070 vs 633 for the T10.
Why?

In short, because Fdev said so. There’s an actual explanation, but it doesn’t make much sense, and ultimately doesn’t matter.

The only reason to fly a T10, unfortunately, is for the sake of being different. Shame too, cause it’s a really neat ship.

The Anaconda will outperform it in all areas, except for a negligible gain in cargo space. Survivability+jump range on the anaconda ends up outweighing any cargo benefit you’d see with a T10 in trade configuration anyway.

Shield boosters amplify the shields base strength on a percentage based system. With each additional booster, the disparity in strength increases. What starts as a small difference before boosters ends with a massive difference when 6 or 8 boosters have affected the equation.

well that was kinda the thing. I have to strip out a lot of combat/hull modules from the Anaconda to get remotely close to what the single class 8 cargo module on the T10 will get. I have had some "haul 100-200 tons of stuff for us" chained missions come up that, that was an issue with.

Generally though, I agree that the Anaconda is a much better ship having messed with the T10 for a day or so now. The weirdness of the hardpoint placement on the T10 seems to scream for turrets. I may end up selling it for something else.... I'm not sure yet.

The basic goal was to buy something that would have all the stuff my Anaconda doesn't usually have. At this rate though; I may just buy a second Anaconda and fit that out for the weird missions.

If you can avoid fighting, the T9 is a fantastic cargo and haulage mission vessel. Other wise, the cutter or Corvette are probably more of the upgrade you are looking for.

After the number of times I was almost knocked out of supercruise last major cargo run, I wanted to get something with at least some guns or a SLF. Not too keen on the idea of having 100m+ cargo in the hold (or a bunch of mission stuff) with nothing to shoot back with if I can't dodge an interdiction.
